I read a lot of old newspapers and Saddler is a fighter who I have researched heavily. After being discharged from the U.S. Army , Saddler stated that all the pushups he was forced to do almost ruined him; he said they are the worst thing for a fighter to do. His manager turned down a bout with Ike Williams in 1949 saying that Saddler wasn't ready for Williams.
Saddler served in the Navy in W.W. 2 and also in the Army during the Korean war and also in the Merchant Marine after retiring. He was prone to severe sea sickness and was eventually relieved of sea duty by the merchant Marine and made an athletic instructor a a gym they ran in Manhattan.

Have you seen the Joe Bugner thread here or the Cleveland Williams thread ?
either that or arsk "Ritchie The Fight Historian" suggest to him to do one.

Pick up the book “ In this corner” by Peter Heller. Saddler interviewed with a host of other former greats. One of the best boxing books out there in my opinion

Watched the Saddler biography from Rich the fight historian on YouTube a few nights ago.
It was outstanding, and I came away from it thinking Saddler was the best featherweight of all time.

Will have to check that out. you don't hear nearly enough about him. As Expug suggested, I did just reread his section in "In This Corner". He mentioned that Archie Moore helped him prepare for the first Pep fight. In training camp, he even sparred with him!
