Greb was so anxious to make weight so that he could win the title if he knocked ODowd out that he spent the night before the fight in a Turkish bath and as a result came in at 155 which would be his lowest weight in years. This weakened him. Even still ODowds hometown papers were split as to who won the fight.

Greb wanted a rematch but O'Dowd made terms very difficult. When they finally reached terms O'Dowd lost his title to Johnny Wilson. As I recall, without double checking, the promoters didnt want to pay a champions purse to O'Dowd since he was no longer the champion. When O'Dowd demanded the purse promised to him as a champion the promoters cancelled the fight. After that Greb preferred instead to chase the title rather than waste time on O'Dowd.
