I am led to believe that the Graham Earl vs Kevin Bennett fight is going to be shown live over the internet (not on my site I add, we are showing some fights very soon, but not live) this will be the first British and Commonwealth title fight to be shown in this way.

What are people views, how much would you pay for it? Is this the way forward, is quality good enough on what you have seen so far?

I am just trying to get confirmation that is being shown live and not as delayed coverage.

I'd be tempted to pay a monthly subscription to an internet boxing site that showed the promoters we don't normally get to see on the telly, but it would have to be <£5, because I pay enough for Sky and, unlike seemingly a lot of posters on this site, I actually like watching footy, basketball, rugby league, Indycar etc, so I wouldn't want to get rid of it.

Probably FrankMaloney.com I would think, I am just trying to get that confirmed.

I'm showing the Sanigar's show at Bristol on Friday, early next week, we hope to be able to show Scott Dann's next title defence too. (Delayed though!)

Who is doing the videos? Eric Guy?

No they have their own photographer or have had in the past

Live boxing on the internet is probably the innevitable way forward. I'd pay around a fiver for a decent British fight, up to maybe a tenner for a world title fight.

I think a system like this would give people the opportunity for people to pay for a one-off, & pick and choose their fight. eg. give the site £5 via paypal and watch whatever. Subscription fees may be innevitable, but I'd like to see them not be ie. I'd rather not pay £x in subscription fees even when there's no fights I want to watch.

Well its better than the current situation. I still maintain that a boxing channel on Sky digital would be affordable and doable (and better) if the promoters worked together.

I just don't think the technology is there for EVERYBODY to be 100% satisifed with web boxing. I have broadband but found the woods vs leslie fight to be of poor picture quality.

The German web boxing has been okay quality wise, but the picture is small (and I don't think can be maximised) plus I don't think you can save it onto your hard drive and put it onto a DVD at a later date.

At least with PPV's on the box you get that luxery.

There are programs out there for recording video and audio streams to your hard drive. The free ones I've tried are a bit hit-and-miss, but there are commercial programs too.

Thats true, but I think the option should be available for those who just want to view the fight again. I love reminiscing and watching old classics like the Benn vs Eubank fights and Hagler vs Leonard. If I peach of a KO happend, I would like to see it again.

I don't know if I am supposed to, but I still have Woods vs Leslie on my hard drive - I wouldn't transfer it to DVD or CD though and never play it because the picture quality is that poor.

I know what you mean, but I would think that would just be open to abuse in this day and age I am afraid

The technology is already there, it's just a case of not everyone utilising it yet. Not everyone wants to be sat at a computer desk looking at a screen for entertainment when they can be sat in a comfy sofa with a remote control.

It may have looked like he put me down in the second, but I honestly cannot remember being caught with anything. My head was clear going down - I was looking at him walking over to the neutral corner and I think that I may have gone down from him rushing in and toppling me over. I won't know until I receive the video for the fight, which I am STILL trying to obtain from the promoter 5 months on.

Back to your original question, Kevin IS heavy handed. he doesn't posess real concussive power but is big enough at the weight to impose his natural strength on any lightweight. I would love a rematch with him though as I was not 100% on the night due to a shoulder injury going into the fight - my left hook was not working which is my best weapon.

Don't know if you remember talking to me after the fight Dean. I was ringside. Here's an extract from my report:

"A short left hook got over his right and caught him bang on the chin, putting him on the seat of his pants. It was a flash knockdown, Dean rose at two and took the standing eight. Bennett rushed in to try and finish the job but Phillips knew enough to tie him up and even came back with some of his own towards the end of the round."

If Earl boxes the way he did against Burns, I feel he gets KOd. However, if Bennett doesn't put into practice the championship lesson he learned against Cook, it will be a problem for him.

I was told by someone that it was a straight right hand, and others have said that nothing at all caught me, so there are conflicting reports, which is why I need the TAPE to see the fight - hint hint someone send me the TAPE.

Is it true the Steve Holdsworth has the video rights for ALL non televised shows? Apparently, that what he claims (so I have been told)? How, can this be?

It will be especially hard for Holdsworth to claim rights on this one as there were Sky camera's. They might have even conviscated the gear.

I think it's a myth. I believe Steve just has that many taped and as he has been doing it for donkeys years, that rumour has come about. I understand as he was the only one really bothered for ages about small hall shows, etc, the Board might have just let him get on with it.

There were no Sky cameras for Bennett-Phillips. Some local TV for Bennett. The show was taped though - perhaps by Ken Morton, the matchmaker who tapes a lot of northern shows.

Yes, that is the major factor. Living rooms have TV's, and generally computers are in work areas or bedrooms.

Once people get used to the idea of hooking up their PC box to a plasma screen or such like, then it will change, for now, most people still see PC's as work machines.

I believe, perhaps it didn't work out that Dean had a guy to film the fight also (video camera jobby). Dean told me that there were Sky camera's there. Although you were at the show aswell.

Speaking of Holdsworth I did note his last commentary when he was referring to boxing forums slagging him off. I wander what site he was referring to - cause that week he did recieve a bit of criticism from his judging on here.

Jon has contacted me about a possible matchup later on, so it could be on the cards if he comes through. I am eager to put the Bennett fight behind me and show everyone that I was not 100% - it's all well and good saying it but you have to prove it in the ring where it matters. So far I have not had the chance to do that, as there have been no fights on the horizon. I very much hope this changes soon.
