Just read that Colin Hart passed away today too, may he rest in peace

More sad news; another legend gone. Like George Foreman, Colin Hart leaves a tremendous body of work behind him for us to still enjoy.

Shout out to Graham Houston, not as old as them but seen more boxing than anyone alive

I'd like to know how many shows he attended over the years - wonder if it was as many as a thousand, could be? Prolific reporter. Best wishes to his family and friends.

RIP Colin Hart.

March 2025 is turning into a very sad month for boxing fans.

Every time I heard Colin Hart's voice, it transported me back to sitting in front of the television with my dad, watching in disbelief as Buster Douglas beat Mike Tyson. Colin was on co-coms that night with Ian Darke and, like us, they could scarcely believe what they were watching. Hart was a true gentleman of the sport and a very knowledgeable boxing fan.

Imagine being ringside for all the fights he saw ? He led a marvellous life. RIP Colin

He was one of those journo`s who was always on the ball and didnt shy away from telling it how it is .

R.I.P. Colin. He was definitely not afraid to say what he thought. I’ll never forget Hatton fighting Pacquaio & all the rest of the Sky pundits giving Ricky a great chance & he just said what he thought, that Ricky didn’t live the life & that he was meeting a world class fighter & it wouldn’t end well.

I used to enjoy read his Sun column as a kid on my paper round. Sad loss, good age though, and to still be working in his passion up to the very end.

Sign of my age but too many folk who seem to be permanent fixtures have passed, makes me feel old and sad

Get used to it, mate. So many people that have been in boxing all our lives are getting towards the end. We'll lose lots more over the next few years.

Thanks for the shout out! I was asked to write a tribute to Colin for the next issue of Boxing News. The next day George Foreman passed away so I wrote that tribute, too. Colin was a gentleman, as has been noted in this thread. I never knew George Foreman but was ringside for some of his big fights. I hope I've done Colin and Big George justice in the tributes.

Thanks for the shout out! I was asked to write a tribute to Colin for the next issue of Boxing News. The next day George Foreman passed away so I wrote that tribute, too. Colin was a gentleman, as has been noted in this thread. I never knew George Foreman but was ringside for some of his big fights. I hope I've done Colin and Big George justice in the tributes.

Big respect for Colin Hart, but I have to be honest in that I found him less relevant over the past decade or so

Every interview included an Ali anecdote or some reference to a fight 40 years ago.

What a career he had though and seemed a genuine bloke.

That was exactly my thoughts. Ive met Colin and chatted to him, lovely man, great journo in his day and condolensces to his family. But his day was a long time ago, everytime he was interviewed in the last 25 years he mentioned the rumble in the jungle etc and it got a tad tiresome. But of course, RIP Colin, another legend lost.

I think almost every older person uses repeated reference points in their anecdotes. I certainly do. By the turn of the millennium (25 years ago), Colin was at state pension age, so I'll give him a pass for a bit of repetition for putting an extra quarter century of a shift in!
