Boxers Submitted For Next 5v5 Event With A Summer Showdown In the Works

allegedly and Eddie Hearn have this week submitted their picks for the next Matchroom v Queensberry 5v5 event.

After years of feuding, Britain’s two leading promoters put their stables against each other on June 1 at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh last year.

But it was a night to forget for Hearn and Matchroom, as they lost all five contests to Warren and Queensberry who left the Saudi capital with a 10-0 scoreline and a $3 million win bonus.

Now it looks as though Hearn will get the chance for revenge this summer as both he and Warren have drawn up an initial draft list of 10 fighters each, which will then be whittled down into the best available five fights.

Those lists, the Ring has learned, were submitted on Tuesday to HE Turki Al-Alshikh, who will now decide which five fights to make for the second edition of the 5vs5 format.

“We have submitted our list of 10 vs 10, rather than 5 vs 5,” Hearn told The Ring on Tuesday.

“We were asked by His Excellency to submit the plans for a 5 vs 5 which we have now done. We will await on his recommendations and choices to move that forward in the summer.”

Hearn and Warren were both speaking at DAZN’s London HQ, as Queensberry prepare to join Matchroom on the streaming platform permanently from April 1, meaning the next 5vs5 will be a key part of the new schedule.

The format proved to be a hit last year, although it was not at all competitive in the end. Queensberry trio Zhilei Zhang, Daniel Dubois and Hamzah Sheeraz all racked up inside distance wins, against Deontay Wilder, Filip Hrgovic and Austin Williams respectively.

There were further victories for Warren’s men at featherweight and light-heavy, with Nick Ball beating Raymond Ford on a split and Willy Hutchinson outpointing Craig Richards.

It was a good card last time with Warren overwhelmingly beating Hearn but the fights themselves were competitive and entertaining. Any rumours on who we might see this time?

No idea yet. First I’ve heard of it.

I guess Turki gets the final say in the fights.

Hoping for a nice HW fight in there.

Doesn’t matter the network or they’re good friends.

They still have their own stables and want bragging rights.

Smith v Yarde is hopefully in there.

Ok it’s still fine. I didn’t mean abandon it… I just don’t think it’s the same biggg deal.

This was created as a way to get two stables with no realistic chance of fighting to fight…

If it gives me Moses vs huni then I’ll be onboard…

But I hear both Eddie and Frank and open to putting it on themselves. Especially now they are both on excellent terms and both with DAZN.

I fear no Turki money will mean Fisher-Dacres rather than Joshua-Kabayel.

The last one was really enjoyable on the whole, so hopefully this year is the same.
Maybe not the financial backing as last time, but close fights are entertaining, no matter the level or money.

JOSEPH PARKER-DAVE ALLEN MOOTED FOR QUEENSBERRY VS. MATCHROOM '5V5' CARD

allegedly has welcomed a fight between Dave Allen and Joseph Parker - and suggested it would land nicely on the next ‘5v5’ event.

Allen breathed new life into his career over the course of two fights with Johnny Fisher in the space of six months.

First, in December, he lost a split decision victory to the Romford Bull at the Kingdom Arena, Riyadh but many thought he had done more than enough to secure a huge upset victory.

Fisher accepted an immediate rematch in the following May and Allen left nothing to chance, clinically stopping his previously unbeaten opponent in the fifth round at the Copper Box Arena, London.

At 33, the (24-7-2, 19 KOs) Allen’s stock has never been so high and his promoter Eddie Hearn even made contact with Shelly Finkel about a potential fight with former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.

But talk of a showdown with a mystery ‘top five’ heavyweight also circulated with Allen confirming there had been suggestions that he could fight title contender and current WBO mandatory challenger Parker next.

Parker is currently contracted to Queensberry Promotions and in line to get a shot at whoever wins between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois in their Wembley Stadium undisputed fight on July 19. But with only his two-round blowout against Martin Bakole to show for the last 16 months, he may fight in the interim and Warren has now opened the door for that fight to be against Allen.

“Dave Allen is certainly a viable opponent for Parker,” Warren said. “It’s a good fight and I think a particularly good fight for Joseph Parker.

“He comes to fight, Dave, doesn’t he? He’s just resurrected himself with that win over Fisher and the way that he did it. So we’ll see. A year ago it’s not something we would have looked at but right now it could work.

“We have to sit down with DAZN to talk about what to do next, Maybe it could go on a 5v5.”

Parker did not feature on the original 5v5 card, when Queensberry Promotions beat Matchroom 10-0 at the Kingdom Arena on June 1, 2024.

That night Daniel Dubois and Zhilei Zhang were the two heavyweights to record victories for Warren’s team, with stoppages over Filip Hrgovic and Deontay Wilder respectively. Captain Hamzah Sheeraz, Willy Hutchinson and Nick Ball were also winners during the Queensberry whitewash.

The two teams are yet to arrange a second edition of the format but The Ring understands there is a hope between both Warren and Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn to ensure it does happen.

Dave is area level, British absolute max. If I was managing him, he wouldn't be going anywhere near Joe Parker.

defo wouldnt be on the 2m that was apparently offered to chisora to fight parker again, but at least a few hundred k could well be for a saudi show

And IMO top whack too for a world level fight, on TV, without a title.
I reckon for his last fight more like 100k

Some folk think fighters are earning millions, which they don't, but these are hefty sums.

Allen is in the spotlight now, gotta make hay while the sun shines.

Hearn certainly dos'nt seem to bother trying to protect his fighters thats for sure

I don't think we'll get another 5v5. They only reply when asked about it, they never bring it up themselves.

Queensberry Promotions and Matchroom Boxing are likely to run back their 5x5 show later this year.

Boxing Scene understands that a date in October or November is being targeted for the England-based show and Eddie Hearn, interviewed by IFL last week, said it could even be a 7x7, with seven of his fighters up against seven from Queensberry.

Among the bouts Hearn stated were mentioned in preliminary discussions were a rematch between light heavyweight contenders Callum Smith and Joshua Buatsi (Smith won a Fight of the Year contender against Buatsi in January 2025), a British lightweight title fight between Giorgio Visioli and champion Louie O’Doherty, a middleweight bout between WBO interim champion Denzel Bentley and George Liddard and a heavyweight scrap between Johnny Fisher and former contender Dillian Whyte.

“We got spanked 5-0,” said Hearn of the last 5x5, which took place in Saudi Arabia. “Run it back, give us another chance. And this will be even bigger and have a more domestic slant on it for the UK.”

The previous 5x5 saw Queensberry win each bout, with Nick Ball defeating Ray Ford, Zhilei Zhang stopping Deontay Wilder, Daniel Dubois beating Filip Hrgovic, Willy Hutchinson outscoring Craig Richards and Hamzah Sheeraz stopping Ammo Williams in June 2024.

Sounds like a Primark version of the last one.

Terrible line-up. Dillian Whyte needs cremated not given more fights.
