Thomas Hearns by unanimous decision. I don't see how Joey Giardello, without a wallop punch, could hurt The Hitman. And even if he had to pressure Hearns to win this fight, he won't be able to hurt him.
So, Hearns stops Giardello before 5 rounds or wins by decision. He is not stopping Giardello after round 5.

The Hitman by decision after outboxing Giardello behind his long quick left jabs and right hands.

Doug DeWitt was a poor man's Giardello. No way Hearns stops Joey G. Over 15, Giardello's skills offset Hearns' height and speed advantages to nick a close decision.

Do you believe that Joey Giardello could outbox Tommy Hearns? Nobody has done that. He got outhustled by Iran Barkley in their second fight at Light-Heavyweight, but Barkley has to apply pressure in both fights to win. He never outboxed The Hitman.

Hearns never fought a middleweight with the boxing style and skills of Giardello. The guys who came out of the 40's and 50's had skills that were largely gone by later eras. Yes, Giardello outboxes Hearns. It wouldn't be easy due to Hearns' height, speed and reach but Giardello gets it done, imo.

Hard to say, but I guess I will have to go with Giardello. Hearns never beat great middleweight. Giardello did.

I think that Tommy Hearns' power could drop any Middleweight boxer that is not Carlos Monzon, Marvelous or Sugar Ray Robinson.
