Just two things:
"After 17 pro fights he hasn't even fought for the British title yet, although he did win some fringe alphabet title" Pot, kettle, WBU?
"I read a topic on who the fans thought would win in a contest pitting Audley Harrison against Butterbean" Butterbean, Majority decision

It´s a farce to compare A-Farce with Lewis. The only thing to say is that Harrison thinks he is as good as Lewis........

Harrison is just a Marketing Gag who was lucky to win the Gold Medal because of the lack of good cubans and the fact that other good ones turned pro (e.g. Samil Sam who would have killed Harrison).

The whole point of the article is he is CONTRASTING the early careers of the Olympic champions and he has a point.

But that's audrey's problem. If he believes his own hype, fine.
But it's not for Maloney to start slagging him off and insinuating that if he'd gone to the dark side with him and alledgedly he'd be on a par with Lewis or something, which this article seems to be doing.

I think that Lewis had more ambition and a good deal more talent too. He also didn't come to England as an all conquering hero, he came from Canada as a relative unknown, without all the sponsorship and TV plaudits. He certainly didn't get a million nicker from the Beeb to back him up.
Frank Maloney carefully rebranded him as the British heavyweight hope. Having read Mama's boy, it's clear that without Maloney, Lewis may never have got where he wanted, he needed the platform of being based in the UK to really make a go of it, and you have to say, Maloney did a bloody good job for him.
Harrison by contrast, has horribly mismanaged his own career. He turned the British public and the media against him, by offering piss-poor shows up on prime time TV, when he would have done better by leaving them as support fights on undercards, and wasted copious amounts of his own time wrangling with allegedly, a battle he was never going to come out on top of.
I had high hopes for Harrison, but he badly misjudged things if he thought Warren was going to let him take on his fighters and remain a promotional free agent.

I just think he's saying Audley's career would have gone better if he'd 'gone to the dark side' as you put it! After fifteen fights, Len was British and European champ.
Sure, Audley is not in the same league but you must admit, his career has gone tits up and he has made some grave errors, as Maloney points out.
OK, some of his comments are a bit rich but I agree with some other points.

I think that Audley's case is a stark lesson that you cannot promote yourself and hope to become a world champion, I cannot think of a single fighter who has done so, and I don't think there ever will be. Being a promoter is a full time job, so is a fighter, the two mix about as well as custard and elephant shit.

Hard to argue with that one boys. As time goes on it looks like Audley was lucky to be in his situation.
Anyway top amateurs rarely count for anything in the pro game these days anyway.

Harrison is not the only one who didn´t make it as Olympic Champ.

A load of one-sided clap trap, compare virtually any boxer to Lennox Lewis and they are not going to look favourable.

For once I agree with Maloney, it does hurt to say but he is spot on.
I also agree with the comment written earlier about a top amateur does not guarantee a top pro, and the Olympic heavyweight gold is longer a guarantee of anything.
The writing is on the wall for Amir

I think Audley should just sign with King, the guy has no more time to waste and King can supply a title shot.....If Audley ever earns one

Don't the Klitschko's promote themselves? And have been and one is world champion. Audley could be just plain crap at it then lol.

Roy Jones Jr done it his way. Roy had very slow progress from the Olympics similar to Audleys and was a bit of a secret up until about his 20th fight. He was managed by his father who was critisized for his matchmaking. Many of Roys early fights as good as he was where off tv and only filmed on camcorder. People had forgot about him.

Oh yeah according to mamas boy it was Lennox who advised Audley to go on his own instead of with a promotor.

Also LOL at Frank again kicking a man when he's down. Following on from the one he done when Jones lost against Tarver. He keeps giving Audley publicity, he musta wanted to sign him up bad!

I agree with most things frank maloney says. I think Audleys career would be going alot better if he had gone with warren.

I assume you are joking. But I can never tell with Americans. Mason was only 29. And he'd already faced Ossie Ocasio who, though old, was better than all the above put together.

Yes, but they didn't START THEIR CAREERS as their own promoters. Audley was his own promoter from day one, and wanted to call the shots on everything from day 1. He started out with McMillan and Harding, then got rid of them and hired a new team, I don't think this is the best way to go, you need people to tell you what you're doing wrong, and when you are in charge of everything that's hard.
Different when you are a big star whose made it to the top, and even then it's not ideal, but Audley seems to have seen himself as a star from day 1 of his professional career, partly because the beeb treated him like one.

they were with Universum and split last year. In Europe they are promoted by Sauerland now. In the US they do it together with their sportfive-management (one of Europes bigest management groups) and HBO. Wladi-Williamson and Vitai-Williams arthe first K2-Promotion-events.
I don´t know what they would have been without Kohl and Sdunek.......
