What if? Oscar De La Hoya vs. Edwin Rosario 1998

12 Rounds Welterweight Bout
We knew that El Chapo suddenly passed away at 34 from his abuse of drugs and alcohol while he was on the comeback trail as he was one of the ranked welterweight contenders for De La Hoya's crown. Had Rosario survived his abuse from drugs and alcohol, he would challenge De La Hoya's welterweight crown.
Had he challenged De La Hoya, the Golden Boy would have battered El Chapo and stop him in 6 rounds in a sad way. What do you guys think and who do you got?

Rosario's best days were behind him by 1998, and even at his best I think De La Hoya probably beats him.

Did Rosario have some decent showings during his comeback trail? I would need to check boxrec for that...
Anyway, in 1998 Edwin was like 10 years removed from his best days.
This would've been a mismatch in my book.

Rosario had only been a pro nine years in 1988. A great puncher but agree De La Hoya beats him

I remember his fight against prime Macho Camacho, where he had a strong case for winning. Which year was that?
Yes, anyway - De La Hoya vs Rosario had no place of happening in 1990's.

Re: Camacho. I thought Rosario won too (1986) but Camacho was always the A-side until he lost the Chavez fight in 1992

Edwin "Chapo" Rosario would have been slaughtered by Oscar De La Hoya at welterweight in 1998.
Rosario by 1998 was already washed up even in his comeback trail. After the beating from the great Julio Cesar Chavez in 1987, Chapo was never the same boxer.
Chapo at welterweight and his best days way past are suicidal to fight any top young welterweight contender.
