Overrated - Ricky Hatton
Good performance against Tzuyu. Then he just fought B and C Levels clowns and shot fighters until getting absolutely clowned by Mayweather then a few fighters later, got clowned by Pacman.
It speaks volumes about his record that out of 45 victories, is second best is Paulie Malignaggi who was a career C-Level plodder.

What’s his best win against a boxer in their prime?
I think he’s overrated too.
He just had a huge following though

I agree Hatton doesn't have all that great of a resume, but I wouldn't go so far as to say he got "clowned" by Mayweather. He gave a respectable effort there in that fight.
He did most definitely get embarrassed by Pacquiao though.

I think Hatton had as big an impact on the game as AJ. It really crossed over with Ricky and lead to a great little era.

Underrated - Dave MacAuley and Duke McKenzie
Overrated - Joshua and Bruno. Chris Eubank Sr
Well rated - I think Hatton. He won world titles at 2 weights. I think the overrated label is because of his popularity. Froch is well rated too. Nigel Benn.

Re the Floyd fight - the clown in the ring wasn’t Ricky, it was Joe Cortez

a lotta people poop all over AJ now, he used to be overrated when undefeated but not anymore
hatton - maybe overrated with casuals, but i feel hardcore fans are pretty fair with him, if anything can be harsh at times
froch i think is rated just about where he deserves. most of the criticism has to do with his weird insecure personality, not his boxing career
with the mega popular boxers, the ones that cross over, the pattern is often for them to be overrated by casuals, which draws some backlash from hardcores, which can lead them to get underrated by hardcores, and it's often only some years after their career that it levels out

Hatton's lack of confidence in facing his main british rival marks him down. If he'd have overcome witter the experience would have probably helped him against mayweather
Underrated: carl thompson
Over rated: joe joyce
Rated: paddy donovan

Both benn and Eubank are overrated. At no point in their careers can either claim to be the best in the country, let alone the world (with graham, Watson and Collins around). Basically they were world class domestic fighters if that makes sense….. big fish in a small pond. They wanted no part of RJJ, Toney, nunn, mccallum etc.
Underrated is Naz. Cleaned out a division and reigned for 5 years before losing to an ATG. When he was young and hungry, he was a devastating fighter.

Naz is an odd one - did he really clean out the division - or did he partially wait for the division cleaned itself out.
Louie Espinosa for years was considered the #2 Featherweight during Naz's time - they never fought. Then there was also Derrick Gainer.
Kevin Kelly was arguably Naz' best win and Kelly was over the hill.
Yes, he lost to an ATG - but it was actually the only "great" he fought in his prime.
But I can see why you say underated a 5 year champ is no mean feat and he did beat some good (but not great) names.

I think Jamie Moore was a bit over rated.
I hear lots refer to him as one of the best Brits to never win a world title but I don’t really see that.
I think he was a bit of a weight bully.

I went to a load of Moore fights back in the day. All 3 of his domestic fights of the year. good times
Moore was never going to beat Canelo if he beat Rhodes.
Matthew Macklin was his best win, but Macklin boxed totally the wrong fight that night.
I would say Moore was a solid British fighter, spent too long at British level. Maloney fighters always had a hard route to a world title.
Not sure if he was a solid European fighter, as his win was against a 200-year-old Piccirillo and a poor first defence against Dzhuman. by then Moore was dead at the weight. Probably rate him somewhere between British and European level. Like John Murray who i also enjoyed going to his fights. They both didn't have the defence for decent fighters.

Sorry Ruthless didn't read it properly and didn't realise you meant former fighters, Thanks for clarifying.
