Scott certainly had a lot of very impressive names on his record he certainly was not a 'protected' fighter.
Just looking through his record he stooped Yolande Pompey who was passed his best but still a fine result.
Went the distance with triple Olympic Champion Laszlo Papp.
Then in 1965 fought the feared Rubin Carter TWICE!!!! Carter was one mean, intimidating dude with brutal punching power Carter also had maybe the best physique I have ever seen on a Middleweight.
Then a few months after that he fought all time great multi-weight Champion Emile Griffith.
A year later he fought the outstanding Nino Benvenuti and went the distance.
Then at domestic level he fought the capable Wally Swift and towards the end of his career went the distance with hot prospects and future Champions Bunny Sterling, Chris & Kevin Finnigan and future World Middleweight Champion Alan Minter.
I'm impressed

Yes he did well and there is an excellent bio on him by Harry Otty which is available via the wiki page. Harry is from liverpool so there is no bias in this by any means. -- only kidding harry.
Its hoped that in the coming months to get the Merseyside and Wirral Boxing site started up so many more fighters can have the recognition they deserve.

Rob,
I would never be biased!!! Well............ maybe a bit.
Harry is a really nice bloke and very unasuming. I saw him a few weeks back at the Liverpool Former Boxers anual shindig. He was in good shape.
Jim Jenkinson told me that you had been in touch about your dad. I hope he had something of interest for you.
I should have gone to the last meeting (I keep promising myself to follow-up Jim's invite to do so), but I had real trouble getting up on the Sunday ;o)
Harry's wife did a booklet on his career - the website looks like it may be it. I think they printed a few hundred and sold the lot in no time. Harry is a well-liked and respected bloke. He used to help me out with a light-heavy I had in the amateurs around seven years ago - Harry could still bang with the right! Probably still can.
cheers

Hi Harry
Jim is a great guy and very willing to help. Met some great people and will be at next months meeting - unable to go to the last one. Also joined the Wirral branch which has been great fun and they are happy for me to start up the website. Terry Carson is doing a great job also
Rinze sends his regards and wants you to do another book.

Rob,
If you are going to the next meeting I will get out of bed in time to get there ;o)
Rinze sounds like a good guy. I had a couple of emails from him (if you are in touch tell him I haven't forgotten about Fred. My friend at the BBC is working on some information for him).
He was really surprised that you ordered the Burley book as a gift for him. If he has any suggestions for another book - I'm all ears!!
Although the book has officially sold out (I have a few left from people who ordered by phone but didn't follow-up), there is going to be a review in the July edition of Boxing Monthly. There may be a 2nd edition in paperback.

had the real pleasure of meeting Harry Scott yesterday and he is doing very well and well pleased with the web site about him.
However it appears that he has lost his scrapbook of news cuttings and I would ask that if anyone has any information , no matter how small, they would be kind enough to send it to me I was with Harry Otty who knows him very well and is also on the lookout for material.
