Joyce was a terrific fighter, certainly not obscure to a serious fight historian, Read about his 4 bouts with Ike Williams. The 1940's weren't the 70's in terms of quality lightweights and Duran isn't go to be as dominant in the earlier era . Of course, he's a great fighter. Joyce was stronger when he was over 135. a jr. welter by today's standards. At 135, Duran wins a tough decision, but a clear win. At 140, it's gonna take a Montreal effort and motivation by Duran to win. Could he do it again in a second bout with Joyce; it's 50-50.
