Promoters GBM announce eight-strong super-middleweight tournament

Britain’s Steed Woodall will lead an eight-fighter, super-middleweight tournament at Connexin Live Arena in Hull, England on November 8.

Woodall, the former English champion Germaine Brown, James Osborne, Ellis Steward, Marc Dickinson, Taz Nadeem, Haaris Khan and Sam Smith will compete to win £25,000 over the course of fights scheduled for three three-minute rounds.

“There’s nothing more exciting than a one-night tournament – especially with a line-up this competitive,” said Izzy Asif, of promoters GBM.

“With four of Britain’s top-20 super-middleweights, three undefeated prospects and a former national champion all in the same bracket, it’s going to be a spectacular night of action on DAZN.”

Depending upon how the draw sets up, I think the Grand Final will feature Woodall and Brown, even though he's been inactive. Outside of Dickenson and Smith, I don't know much about the other fighters, even though I pretty closely follow the SMW, MW, and SWW divisions, and by default the LHWs and WWs.

I have to admit I am a fan these bracket-style tournaments, which can give unknown boxers a chance to make a name for themselves and generate some momentum for more recognized fighters. Although the one-day events can be dicey due to cuts or injuries. I think the worst scenario would be to win your bout but not be able to advance due to a cut.

This is a great idea. I’m going for Dickinson. But Nadeem could do well.

Not familiar with the Promoter or any of these fighters, but I do like Tournaments so I'm for it.

Since he fought last weekend and got stopped, does anyone know if Woodall is still in the tournament?

Without Woodall and Dickenson competing, I now think this tournament is wide open. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top.

Taz Nadeem has looked quality when I've seen him. Not sure about some of the others but sure it will be an entertaining night.

He might even picked up an injury.

It's set up for Taz Nadeem to win it, he's Izzy's boy and the 3 round format will suit him. Also the betting favourite to win it with 365.

Looking forward to this, Prizefighter got a bit tedious by the end but it's been a while so it's something different I suppose

Dickinson is tiny for super middle, how he never made weight last time was bad. He should never be higher than middle.
