The Last Bare-Knuckle Championship

Hello all,
I'm a filmmaker from Mississippi and I'm in the early stages of planning a documentary about the legendary bout between John L. Sullivan and Jake Kilrain. In my view, it's one of the most interesting, overlooked, and important sporting events in history!
Right now I'm trying to track down any experts/historians that can provide more depth and "color" to be interviewed for the film. There a some obvious choices that have written books (i.e. Christopher Klein and Adam Pollack), but I'm interested in as many people as I can find. This forum is FILLED with knowledgeable folks, so I'm looking forward to your recommendations.
Thanks!
