Manny Pacquiao vs Vasyl Lomachenko rumours

You all probably heard these rumours already. At first, I treated it as some kind of BS. But news are gaining steam.

Pac may reunite with Bob Arum/Top Rank early next year and fight Lomachenko in January after his discussed title fight with Rolly hit the snag, following the recent WBA ruling.

And what was rumoured to be an exhibition fight in December might actually become a real fight in January.

This all still sounds like a made-up news, as I'm typing it. At which weight they're gonna fight? What's at stake?

Anyway, you may or may not remember that this fight was proposed by Arum back in 2018, at catch-weight. Pac was seemingly up for it. Whereas, Loma and his father weren't entertaining moving above 135lbs mark.

If we're about to actually see this fight in a few months - what are your thoughts? Who'd you pick to win?

Pacquiao is a fool if it happens. If he's chasing the history of winning a title at an old age. Lomachenko doesn't have a belt, and is a more difficult night than Barrios or Romero either one.

Pacquiao would lose every minute of every round of this bout. I'd rather see him attempt to beat Romero or Barrios.

I haven't yet seen Arum's response. Is it on Twitter?

I don't think this fight (if it happens) would be that one-sided. Especially, if Loma is to move up in weight for this one. Plus, Lomachenko would be coming off a 1.5 year layoff...

He's almost 10 years younger than Pacquiao. It would absolutely be that one sided.

Loma had trouble absorbing power punches at 135

Pacquiao doesn't throw power punches since 2012. He has 1 KO in the last 15 years.

Well, Keith Thurman would disagree with you 🙂

Yep. Knocked him down and hurt him late in the fight. Being 10 years older.

I'm OK with picking Loma over Pac, don't get me wrong. But I don't think Loma will do what Spence likely would have done to Pac, if not for Spence's injury.

For Pac's sake I hope we never find out. I'd rather see him potentially beat Romero or Barrios than definitely lose to Lomachenko.

If this fight happens, it’ll be a clash of two legends with very different styles. Pacquiao’s experience and power vs Lomachenko’s technical brilliance. However, Pacquiao’s age and Lomachenko’s layoff could be major factors. Personally, I’d lean towards Lomachenko due to his youth and adaptability, but Pacquiao’s heart and determination can never be underestimated.
