Labinot Xhoxhaj defends European heavyweight title against Pezhman Seifkhani on February 14

Labinot Xhoxhaj will defend his European heavyweight title against Sweden’s Pezhman Seifkhani on February 14 in Lahr - the German city where the champion is based.

The 21-0-1 (16 KOs) Xhoxhaj, from Kosovo, is on a hot streak. In upsets, he defeated Oleksandr Zakhozyi to win the title and then made a successful first defence against another unbeaten favorite, Mourad Aliev. Seifkhani, 17-1 (12 KOs), earned his shot by defeating Eduardo Giustini over 12 rounds in April.

If Xhoxhaj beats Zakhozhyi (19-0), Aliev (13-0 ) and Seifkhani (17-1) in succession, that's quite an impressive run of wins. He could definitely defend his belt against someone of a higher level. I imagine his next opponents will be Hysa and Camkiran but it would be more interesting to see him against the likes of Vianello, Riakporhe or Gassiev.

Nice the belts being defended rather than just being vacated.

Problem with a euro belt (or similar) is that no names will defend but real names will ditch too quick.

I swear euro was a legit contender belt once apon a time. But with “wbo south eastern global trans atlantic sub Saharan” belt, ect no one gives the euro any love.

I watched that. It was comically bad.

The European heavyweight title and the type of fighters who contest it almost seems like a parallel universe of heavyweights compared to the World scene and particularly the UK heavyweight scene which has been something of an epicentre for a good few years now.

Xhoxhaj is really a cruiserweight, and a small one at that. He has a 75% KO ratio but all of those are against other one star cruisers. Aliev had some vague notoriety amongst UK boxing fans for getting himself disqualified against Frasier Clarke in the Olympics through headbutts. He was massive but he was practically throwing himself out of the ring Ala Ben Quittiker to escape any sort of fight with Xhoxhaj.

This Seifkhani bloke is a similar non-entity. You can see why prospects and names avoid the European title these days. It's a worthless bauble.

Pezhman is d-level. But Xhoxhaj is so dull.
Best result would be a big Pezhman KO win but really this title is just being passed around a truly dire bunch of fighters. it seems very much like a closed bauble.
