Hughie Fury-Michael Webster to join Max Verstappen, Martin Garrix-like figure

Hughie Fury is to fight his fellow British heavyweight Michael Webster at the Sportcomplex de Wilgenring in Rotterdam, Netherlands on the undercard of the light-heavyweight contest between Gradus Kraus and Rostam Ibrahim on November 29.

The 31 year old last fought when stopping Dan Garber in April. Webster, 30, was stopped in his past fight, in February against Jeamie Tshikeva.

Fury's father and trainer Peter trains Kraus, 24 and of the Netherlands. Ibrahim, of Germany, is 33.

“Gradus Kraus has got global superstar potential,” said GBM Sports’ Izzy Asif, the promoter who proceeded to compare Kraus to not only the Formula One driver Max Verstappen but the celebrated Dutch DJ Martin Garrix.

“At our recent media day in Rotterdam, reporters from some of the biggest newspapers in the Netherlands were saying he could be boxing’s version of Max Verstappen – a proud Dutchman competing on the world stage with the whole country behind him.

“This fight on November 29th in Rotterdam is a crucial milestone for Gradus Kraus. Winning will open the door to the IBF top-15 rankings and into contender bouts which will lead to the world-championship opportunities he wants to be in this time next year.”

It remains unclear whether Asif recognised how open to interpretation the comparison with Garrix is.

“This is probably the last time you’ll ever get to see Gradus Kraus up close in a venue this size,” he said. “You know the way some people first came across Martin Garrix in a small club, then the next thing he’s gone global? That’s what this is.”

It's disappeared from my upcoming fights on Dazn too.
