Lamotta was tough with a rock hard chin, but limited ability. Tremendous pressure and stamina. Not tremendous punching power or speed, and at Light Heavyweight his engine didn't run as hard as it did at Middle.
Because of his technical limitations he needed to be the stronger guy to be able to be most effective with his style.
He's not the stronger guy at Light Heavyweight. Loughran would outbox him handily.

I'm with you on this and Loughran would not allow the Raging Bull to touch him by outboxing him behind his quick jabs and moving around the ring to take a decision.

Jake LaMotta's pressure would be key. But, those he had enough strength at 175lbs to beat the great Tommy Loughran? I don't think so. Loughran was one of the best 175-pounders in history.
