To me, he was. Better technician, better stamina, and ring generalship. And fought better on the inside. Sugar Ray Robinson was inept at the inside fighting.

Post 1952 Robinson, Hagler wins and then loses a rematch.

Al Romano told me he and Hagler had a sit-up contest. Hagler finished 500 before Romano could do 250. He also said Hagler often did 12 miles of roadwork and he had to work very hard to even break a sweat. The expression he used was " Hagler's body was greedy for exercise."

Yes Robinson was physically stronger than Hagler, and he proved it many times in toe to toe battles with much heavier opponents.

This sh*t right here is why I ignore fans when they accuse guys of PED usage. They just say it randomly with no basis in anything if it's a fighter they want to believe it about.

What sh!t? I am not hating on Hagler or anything. He is one of my favorite fighters. This is mythical fight between fighter from 40s and 50s against fighter from 80s. Of course PEDS are big factor here. People tend to forget that golden era of boxing was also golden era of steroids.

The Hagler of 81 when he beat Hamsho, could beat any middleweight in history I believe. He was an absolute machine. Box, punch, anyway you wanna play it.
