Ali Nuumbembe has stepped in at short notice and tops the bill wen he goes in against class operator David Barnes this Friday on the sky televised show in Barnsley.

Blimey, that's a big step for Ali, shame this fight has to come at such short notice, Ali's going to be up against it that's for sure.

I wish him well but its too big a step, too short notice.

He has nothing to lose though.

Any title on the line? If not it might be the first Sky show in years with no title on the line!

whats ali like?? ive heard hes decent will he pose barnes big problems??
heard alis on been beaten once and it was a robbery in his home country.

WBO Intercontinental not commonwealth

Ali is a replacement for Joshua Okine, who holds the commonwealth title. And unless Ali has British residency or something I doubt it will be for the British title. Any ideas why Barnes/Okine has fallen through?

Not sure why Okine isn't fighting I heard a rumour this morning saying it was off. Barnes will now face Ali Nuumbembe for the WBO Intercontinental belt

I swear, they just make up these belts. How on earth is the WBO intercontinental title on the line - where did that come from?

It is absoluely mad. They have ratings for the intercontinental title tho, don't they? Still mad. At least it's a (minor) step up from the WBU intercontinental title, who's past and current holders I shall not mention

Obviously more time would have been ideal, but is anything ever ideal in the boxing game????

No time to preare for southpaw either, but when a chance like this comes up you have to grab it with both hands.

We know Ali is not suppose to win, but I wouldnt write him off

Although, I can see why Barnes' work at the end of most rounds would catch the eye and earn the draw

A great shame to see Barnes' behaviour at the end and in the changing room afterwards. Spoilt fornicating brat. One of his hanger's on needs to give him a talking too

Also, credit to Vann/Paris/Francis. I was convinced they were going to give it to the "house" fighter. Mind you with their past record, I thought they would find a way to give the fight to Ricky Hatton

Can't see any upside in Barnes wanting a rematch. Better off fighting Vincent and putting this one down to experience. Did show his glaring weakness though. Slow to bring the jab back. Hands too low etc etc

Very well done to Ali. Stepping in at about a week's notice, he puts on a huge display. I have to hold my hands up and say I missed his only defeat so far, a SD in Namibia. Putting those two together, tho, Ali looks a very hard guy to beat and very good luck to him.

fornicating BOLLOCKS! Wanted to watch this last night, stupid flatmates wanted to watch some cockend fornicating film, I had a feeling this might turn out to be a good one. Great result for Ali, sounds like he should be competing in much higher levels of competition than he has been, but hard to get the fights I know. If he can do this to Barnes at short notice, then imagine what he can do with proper preparation.

Barnes went into a right fornicating hissy fit, even before the announcement when Shannon lifted Ali on his shoulders.

Then he acted like a bell end when the result was announced. Then he refused to speak to Sky

Lost a lot of respect for him after that

A lot of these young fighters need someone to give them a slap now and again before they start thinking they are god's gift. On this showing, Barnes is just above domestic

Eh, yeah, except he had been training as usual for the fight against Okine, whilst Ali was drafted in last minute and given about a week to prepare.

Also, "It is unbelievable, I was well ahead. I don't know how many times I hit him but he was wobbling all over the place." Was this Barnes doing an impression of Riddick Bowe's last opponent or what?
