After Signing With Zuffa, Otto Wallin Calls For stablemate Efe Ajagba

Zuffa Boxing keeps making waves by adding to its roster Thursday, and Otto Wallin told The Ring he's targeting one heavyweight in particular.

The budding promotional company officially signed Wallin, a former heavyweight title challenger. This comes just hours after announcing that super middleweight contender Edgar Berlanga and IBF junior welterweight champion Richardson Hitchins are also coming aboard.

For Wallin, signing with Zuffa aligned with his career ambitions and goals.

“I signed with Zuffa because I believe they’ll be able to keep me active,” Wallin told The Ring via phone after Thursday's announcement. “They have a lot of dates and I want to progress my career. I want consistent fights. They should be able to provide that.”

Wallin, 35, doesn’t just want activity, he craves competition. Zuffa has signed its fair share of heavyweights, but when it managed to sign Efe Ajagba that caught Wallin’s attention.

The Ring’s No. 7 heavyweight looked good in his Zuffa debut, beating former champion Charles Martin via fourth-round stoppage in Las Vegas on February 15.

Now under the same promotional umbrella, Wallin (28-3, 16 KOs) wants him to know that they can get it on, too.

“I’m willing to fight anyone,” Wallin said. “I’m ready to make a statement. I want some good fights and against good guys. Efe Ajagba is one of them. I’ve been wanting to fight him for a long time. Hopefully, we can make that happen soon.”

Wallin gave former unified heavyweight champion Tyson Fury a tough fight in 2019. He also holds a win over WBA secondary titlist Murat Gassiev in 2023. Since then, however, he's just 2-2.

Agreed. Ajagba Vs Wallin isn't a horrendous fight. Wallin is probably still on the fringes of top 20/25. Ajagba is fringe top 10. Most others aren't facing other top 25 guys at the moment even if this one isn't going to be super competitive. If they keep signing 10-25 ranked guys on short contracts to get them tonight it out then it's fine. The problem will be when they get their hands on guys at the top or sign decent guys to long term contracts. The guys that I think they could sign are Bakole, Ruiz, Sanchez, Vianello, Makhmudov, Wilder, Miller, Hughie, Hunter. These types of guys who are becoming "who needs them" kind of guys and those who could be a big draw in the US.

Because that's the highlight of his career and what he wasn known for.
The next biggest thing in this career was a SD win of a former cruiserweight, who himself doesn't have any good wins in this division.
