I'm going with Patterson because he's the more dynamic offensive fighter of the 2. He's got some of the fastest hands in Heavyweight history so Byrd's often praised defensive skills would have to be as sharp as could be, and even then would he have the offense to answer back? I don't think he would.

Patterson by UD for me

1967 is too late for Patterson, imo. A peak Patterson, circa 1960, is a great match for Byrd. I lean towards Byrd on points based on his defense. Just a great mythical bout.

Patterson was effective in 1967 despite being past his best as Byrd at his best would outbox him behind his southpaw jabs, dodging, moving and landing quick combinations to take a decision even under the 15 rounder.

I would pick Chris Byrd by decision. He would be too slick for Floyd Patterson.

Patterson had very fast hands and would get to Byrd often enough to stop him. Byrd was a good defensive fighter, but people carried away with it. He got hit and hurt numerous times.
