Could London ever be saved now, or is it too far gone?

I tend to agree, hopefully a Reform government can at least save other parts of the country, but London is a cesspit and too far gone.

It would appear it's too far gone now, i'd never go there ever again

If i remember rightly, Ricky went there once and was scared away by some small brown children, i lived there for 20 years and it was fine.

Different people have different experiences. It doesn't mean their position is invalid Just because their experiences are different to yours.

I live in London, and in inner london too - it has it's problems, as do other major cities.

There are things need fixing, same can be said of it's other international rivals.

The whole 'Londonistan' bollocks is usually from people who don't live here, and either never have, or very briefly.

I don't know many native londoners who grew up here use that ridiculous phrase.

According to wikipedia as of 2016, London had around 1500 mosques. In 2013, Muslims owned over a third of small to medium sized businesses. The London Metropolitan Police's Gang Matrix lists membership as around 90 pct ethnic minority.

Some of the comments here remind me of this forum about Detroit I'd occasionally read. Always had people saying they had just visited that "real bad" area at night, and how no one shot them, robbed them, raped them, and didn't try to sell them drugs or sex.

I can only go by my actual lived experience.

In 55 years, living in London, with only a few years living outside of the city at university, I have been burgled once - and once when I was a kid our house was broken into, back in the very early 80s, and been the victim of one mugging, and that last one, was because I stepped in to help a mate out.

I live in one of those areas that is categorised as 'bad' I would imagine, Lambeth as a whole has a pretty high crime rate out of the London boroughs.

London is still, on a global scale, incredibly safe, it is nowhere near the top of the table for violent crime in the UK.

Westminster borough has I think the highest crime rate for robbery mainly because it's a tourist area, and is heaving with pickpockets.

I lived in those areas for 20 odd years and never got raped once! Although a pissed up fat bird did sit on my lap once and start trying to snog me whislt on the central line at Stratford. AI says there are 400 mosques in London, 10 times as many churches for whatever that matters.

Can't see that being a problem, unless you were the train driver

I’m not saying London is a dangerous place far from it, What I am saying though is parts of London are a Muslim cesspit. That doesn’t make them dangerous it just makes me think these places are shitholes.

Tower hamlets, Newham parts of Leytonstone. East London in general has got a massive problem, I see it with my own eyes.

Tower Hamlets and Newham have been shiteholes ever since I can remember, Tower hamlets and brent from memory were often the poorest boroughs in London, Leytonstone, not too familiar with it, don't really go there much.

I go to the east end a fair bit, the biggest risk generally is your wallet bleeding out buying expensive pints and coffee, or hot honey and nduja sandwiches.

The East end has more issues with hipsters than Muslims.

The East end has always been a melting pot, while traditionally white immigrants, none were local, then the immigrants were mainly non white, now many of the immigrants are posh hipsters.

The original white immigrants families have moved out to Essex

No but a few of my mates went and said they had a good day. They said the majority of the people attending were normal bods but there was quite a few pricks there for a piss up and general muggy behavior. In the main though they said it was a good crowd

I lived in Notting Hill, Westbourne Grove, Holland Park Whitechapel and Limehouse.

Never felt the city was 'lost' to anything. I look back on those years as some of the finest I've had. If a lottery win comes my back, I'd be back in a heartbeat.
