The rematch between Conor McGregor and Max Holloway headlines UFC 329 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on July 11. McGregor, who hasn’t fought in five years, won their first fight nearly 13 years ago, defeating Holloway by decision.

Former two-division UFC champion McGregor (22-6) last fought in July 2021 when he suffered a broken leg in his rematch with Dustin Poirier. The 37-year-old Irishman was scheduled to return against Michael Chandler, but the fight did not materialize.

Honolulu’s 34-year-old former UFC champion and symbolic “BMF” titleholder Holloway (27-9) is coming off a decision defeat to Charles Oliveira in March.

Their first fight was contested at featherweight, while the rematch is scheduled at welterweight. The announcement was made during the UFC Vegas 117 broadcast on Saturday.

In the co-main event at UFC 329, Paddy Pimblett takes on Benoit Saint Denis at lightweight.

England’s 31-year-old Pimblett (23-4) dropped a decision to Justin Gaethje in January, which snapped his nine-fight winning streak.

France’s 30-year-old Saint Denis (17-3, 1 NC) stopped Dan Hooker in February, recording his fourth win in a row.

People should not buy tickets to any McGregor fight as what happened was and is a very high probability. Imagine those that flew from far away and paid for an expensive hotel room.

I don't quite get why Conor would reason out that throwing a jumping Scissor Kick would be an ideal beginning approach to this mma bout.

Especially if his leg was already in a Legit compromised condition, which I believe was the case.

I kinda get him doing that, being that he has that certain internal energy that he sometimes can't control properly.

But seriously, if he had only been more analytical and realistic about his own compromised physical condition, then you'd have to reason out that he would've realized that his best chance would've been to just try to turn it into mostly a boxing type of match, with a slight bit of grappling, in certain spots, and just completely also avoided throwing really any sort of kicks, although likely he would've been okay if throwing a basic sidekick here and there as well, or one of them "This is Sparta" front heel strike style kicks.

I can only reason out that he actually somehow thought that he had a legit chance of catching Holloway with that sloppy jumping Scissor-Kick.
I mean, if you're Conor and you're going to try an instant fight ending strike, at least keep it simple and just try to emulate the straight left cross fight ending strike that was pulled off in the "Jose Aldo" bout.
It's like, Conor was suddenly somehow highly inspired by the Jorge Masvidal single strike knockout versus Ben Askren.
That was a Knee strike of course, so maybe you could Instead reason out that he wanted to try a modified version of the Crane Kick knockout from the original Karate Kid flick.

I’ll also add that I can’t grasp how Conor could think he was just gonna blast a fighter of Holloways caliber with that technique

Imagine any Irishman flying to the USA for this and using up his savings for that disaster…. If McGregor went in with an injury it’s unconscionable
