Sprotts weight.

I know people have complained at Danny's weight and with reason - I have checked Michael Sprotts' record and his weight seems to be on the increase also. For his last fight he was over a stone heavier than for his first fight with Williams (where he didn't have a good preperation).

He is a naturally a very small heavyweight who a few years ago was touted that it would be better if he campaigned at Cruiser. He is now weighing around the 240 mark. If he is around that weight on Saturday, will this have a detrimental effect on his performance?

Sprott has weighed around that mark for some time though, and he still looks pretty mobile. I think physically he has probably matured quite a bit, and he certainly doesn't look overweight last time I saw him anyway. He's packed on a fair bit of muscle onto his frame, but his main problem seems to be that he doesn't handle body shots too well, he's pretty nippy, and when he sets himself can actually punch a bit. The problem is, when he is in with bigger men, he tends to slap and move around a lot, and as a result they are able to just swarm all over him. Against smaller fighters, he tends to stand his ground and really let one go occasionally. The shot he hit Colin Kenna with was pretty awesome and I am sure it would have hurt Skelton or Williams, in fact, Sprott Wobbled williams a few times in their last fight with lesser shots.

I think Sprott's problems are more mental than physical.

As a side note, what if Koc had fought Jumbo Cummings and knocked him out.

Headline.
"Koc does Jumbo Cummings"

Agree about Sprott's mental attitude - as a Sport Psychologist it was very odd seeing his effort vs Skelton. Winning a title usually gives a fighter more confidence and belief, it just didn't seem like he was thinking vs Skelton. It was a fight he could have, and perhaps should have, won. The Sprott who fought Williams (any of those fights) would have beaten him.

Also, why didn't he get up. It was a difficult fight to score who knows what the ref was thinking. It just looked like he didn't want to be there from the start and, I don't like saying this, quit at the end.

Very odd.

On his weight it is very fluctuating, which I don't like. It gives me the impression he doesn't know what weight or what training regime suits him.

Look at it on boxrec. Last fight 242.

Vs Skelton 233 - Nine pounds.

Williams 3 - 239

Williams 2 - 228 - 11 pounds.

Just heard that Koc will be fighting next in the Scottish fishing town of Eyemouth, on the East Coast. The newspaper headline:

"KOC IN 'MOUTH"

I for one would be quite interested to see Sprott's weight. He may be maturing or whatever, but I think he's had quite innactive recently - 1 round in a year - and however much muscle he has, I think 240lb is way more than enough for a guy who is 6 feet at best

What happens is Michael does some damage .

HEADLINE "Michael bruises Koc"

Or if Koc get's weighed in heavy,

HEADLINE "Michael faces a huge Koc"

this could go on all day

Good point. Koc gets bruised quite easily. If him and Klit ever banged together the pair of them would be black and blue allover.
