The real question is, will people's answer to this question change whether Jesse does or doesn't beat Inoue? I think we all know it will.

I say let's see Bam vs Inoue first, and see how good Bam is in his own time.

OK, I hear you. That said, "styles make fights" thing might also be the case in Mares-Bam-Inoue triangle. In other words, even if Bam loses to Inoue, it's still possible he could beat Mares.

By the way, speaking specifically about Mares... What's your take on him? How would you rate Mares during his 2010-2013 run? Was he equal to Nakatani, Bam, Inoue?

I don't know if Bam is there yet, but no I don't rate Mares as high as I would Inoue. He'd probably be equal to or slightly higher than Nakatani though I can't say for sure.

I remember not being a fan of Mares back in the days. He was often getting away with dirty tactics and, as a frequent A-side, he usually had ref on his side (Agbeko 1, Moreno, DeLeon fights). He also received some favourable judging calls (Darchinyan, Agbeko 1).

But I have to give it to him - he was a solid fighter. Consistently faced good opposition. Was a skillful pressure fighter. I think, Bam would've had a tough fight on his hands against him.
