1/27/90 in Sheffield. Does anyone know (remember) anything about this bout? Sugar tells me he knocked Nelson down early.

This was one to forget, the most boring fight I have ever seen without a doubt.

As far as i can remember , i don't think he Knocked Nelson down, I can hardly remember a punch being landed in all the rounds.

Whats Sugar up to these days?
I know his son has turned pro, is he having anything to do with his training?

I was at a house party...ah, that takes me back. Just turned 18. Loads of fit birds about, booze flowing...

I sat on my own in the kitchen in front of a little portable and watched perhaps the most boring fight I've ever seen in my life.

Blokes and birds alike would wander in, stand behind me and ask the odd question out of courtesy to be polite. Even though it was utter shite, I stayed with it until the end. I can't remember if there was a knockdown. Maybe I missed it getting a refill.

When it was all over, I turned round and all my mates were sorted for birds and there was no one else to be found!

Johnny, you swine, who was more useless that night...you or me? :x :x

Sugar trains amateur's in the Buffalo area. Also worked with Mesi. He helps his son now and then.

Johnny was pathetic in this fight! :x

I'm so disgusted at his non effort & what's worse, he did the same thing against James Warring in 1992!

I haven't watched any of his fights since!!!

Taken the day before this past Easter.

I was at the fight and people were walking out after six rounds. One couldn't fight and the other wouldn't.

Never ever forgiven Nelson for that effort.

De Leon was pleading "beat me up," but nelson was awful.

I dont recall a knockdown, hardly a punch landed for the first half of the fight. I'd love to see the punch stats!

You are all too correct. :(

Some people have never forgiven Johnny for the DeLeon and, even worse, repeating the rubbish against DeLeon. I have though - he's totally turned his career around and I back him against anyone in the world at 200.

I think Nelsons time has passed, he's just too inactive these days to compete with the guys at the top. He can probably carry on defending his WBO belt though until he's 50! ;)

It's a shame we'll never get to see it. Johnny just isn't box office sadly, and he's hardly flavour of the month even with his own promoter. Unless he gets a shot at Macaranelli, and does a number on him, which I think he quite possibly would, I don't see a big fight in his future. Hope I'm wrong though.

Every good fighter has a few stinkers mate.

Nelson has had some awful nights, but he's also had alot of good ones,
you just never quite know what version is going to turn up.

Some of his good nights were against Crawford Ashley, Lou Gent, Markus Bott ( in Germany) , Tom Collins, Jimmy Thunder, Patrice Aouissi, Dirk Wallyn, Peter Oboh, Carl Thompson, Adam Watt, Rudiger May.
