Frank Martin vs. Bryan Flores in the works for October
After signing a promotional deal with Top Rank last month, Frank Martin is wasting little time tapping into the momentum to land his next matchup.
A matchup between Martin (19-1-1, 13 KOs) and Bryan Flores (29-1-1, 16 KOs) is in the works for early October, the junior welterweight contender told The Ring.
"The Ghost" Martin, a 31-year-old from Indianapolis, last fought to a unanimous draw against Nahir Albright in February. In December, Martin viciously stopped Rances Barthelemy in four rounds in his first fight since getting knocked out by Gervonta Davis in June 2024.
"Nino Maravilla" Flores, a 30-year-old Mexican based in Las Vegas, is riding a three-fight winning streak since suffering the lone loss of his career against Lindolfo Delgado via split decision in August 2024. Flores has reputable wins this year against Starling Castillo and Jonathan Navarro.
Martin envisions a win against Flores can set him up for a fight against Delgado in 2027. Martin is assuming Delgado, the No. 1 contender for the vacant IBF 140-pound title, will become a champion sometime this year whenever he gets the chance to fight for the belt.
"A lot of people call out my name thinking I'm a fool, but I am going to be sticking with the plan that I have," Martin told The Ring. "I want to be fighting for a title by next year. We are eyeing and aiming for Lindolfo Delgado, if that fight presents itself."
