Louie O'Doherty admits that he lost 8-4 but got a draw. Should he have admitted that?

I didn't watch the fight closely enough to score it but the consensus was that Gomez won.
Louie then came out with a post fight video after watching the fight and said that he thinks he lost.
The question is, is this a good idea? Fans will appreciate the honesty, and he goes up in my estimations. But if I was a judge, would I be giving him a fortunate card again if he's going to come out after the fight and say this?
Don't get me wrong, I think every fighter should be this honest. It's just such a filthy sport to be an honest guy in.

Sorry, but hard disagree.
I had it close than him, and certainly closer than the DAZN commentators had it (which was insane)
However, if you just walk around in a deluded state you are not in the mindset to make the changes you need to make to get the result in the rematch.
Also, if you start claiming you won when the public see you as being lucky to the point of corruption (how the public will see this due to the commentary) you also come across as an idiot.

It's refreshing honesty. You also go on the very very short list of fighters who I would say does not take PEDs. I remember Richie Woodhall admitted he lost a fight where he was given the decision. I doubt many can imagine Woodhall injecting himself with a PED. It just doesn't feel right as an image.
I say fair play to Doherty and he gains a lot of respect but at what cost. He says it himself in the video. There is a cost for that honesty. So when we see it, we should really respect it.

I think that was the Glen Catley fight off the top of my head

I also don't think there will be any damage. the fight was low enough profile that it won't be costing him millions in a unification. the rematch will obviously happen.
For him this will be a net positive due to these circumstances

Gomez's corner telling him to not take risks and basically give away last 2 rounds is bizarre to me, maybe the last round say it but not 2 rounds out.

Richie Woodhall said the wrong man won when his hand was raised over Glenn Cately.
In the post fight interview Richie said he lost and the judges got it wrong.

I think i would've maybe known that to be true in my own head, but I wouldn't have said it to anyone else.

I personally wouldn’t admit it, just because it will almost certainly come back to bite him in the rematch. Maybe would have been wiser to play the Arsene Wenger card and claim not to have seen it
Have to credit the honesty though, very rare in all walks of life, let alone a dirty corrupt sport like boxing

Fair play to him. The judges are corrupt.
Not his fault but decision should be overturned. Yes Smith is a moron but he was right here. It was 10 - 2 for me

I did comms in Hull last month and one of the decisions was appalling I was saying is the ref sponsored by Specsavers it was appalling the away fighter was utterly robbed and even the home crowd were booing.

Yeah I don’t think it will do him any damage. You’d assume he will be working hard on what didn’t go right to be better next time out or once a rematch comes along.

Yeah, refreshing.
Then run the fight back and probably lose it if Gomez really did take the last two rounds off.

I got asked, simple as that. It was in Hull and the day after my radiotherapy was due to finish so I thought yeah I’ll do it, was something to focus on outside of work. I work really long hours for my job and with the health crap (violins at the ready) boxing podcasts or anything related is the thing I really like so that’s about it really mate.
Max works for Dennis and asked me to do it so I said yes. Meeting him Monday to discuss getting more involved. Doing 28 Nov for the Sheffield show and possibly more. I’ve no ambition to be anything other than a grateful blatherer in the sport, I do it for one reason - I enjoy it and it’s good for my noggin. Hope that makes some semblance of sense.

Cheers mate. One to make you chuckle: Someone sent me a message (via LinkedIn bizarrely) saying I’m just another person taking a paycheque to be involved in boxing. Firstly who would give me a bean to talk boxing? I wouldn’t. I paid for my own hotel and travel to do the comms and don’t get paid nor will I ever, to do it. I tried to pay for my ticket to even be there. I’m a half breed gobshite I just like talking about boxing nothing more. It cost me £200 to do comms for the Hull show it would be a really crap career move. My career is housing, boxing is my passion and I’ll happily pay to be a tiny part of it.

Some people are just jealous and don’t like seeing anyone doing better than them, social media is a weird place!
