Joshua Pagan to face Orlando Gonzalez in lightweight 10-rounder on December 5

On Saturday, December 5, world-ranked lightweight Joshua Pagan will return to action against Orlando Gonzalez, live on Wynn Records Network (8 pm. ET) from Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.

WBO No. 3-ranked Pagan, 16-0 (5 KOs), a Puerto Rican American from Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Gonzalez, 25-3 (14 KOs), of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, will clash in the co-featured attraction of an event topped by the Litzy Vazquez-Stephanie Pineiro battle for the WBC and WBA junior-welterweight world championships.

A former national champion as an amateur, 26-year-old Pagan has spent the past year fighting three times between Grand Rapids and Puerto Rico.

In October 2025, he scored a ninth-round stoppage of Maliek Montgomery in San Juan. He then returned to his hometown of Grand Rapids, twice, scoring 10-round unanimous decisions over Nicaragua's Bryan Jimenez in February and Mexico's Rodolfo Bustamante Salazar in June.

“Capu (Gonzalez) has been talking a lot, and some of the media in Puerto Rico have been doubting me not only as a fighter, but as a fighter with Puerto Rican heritage,” said Pagan, according to a press release about the fight. “Once I heard this, I knew that this was the fight that needed to happen next.”

Gonzalez has proven his durability by going the 10-round distance while losing a unanimous decision to former featherweight world champion Raymond Ford in 2024, as well as 10- and eight-round unanimous decisions, respectively, to former champion Robeisy Ramirez in October 2021, and Mexican gatekeeper Misael Lopez in September 2022. A ProBoxTV alumnus, 31-year-old Gonzalez has won two straight since moving up to lightweight.

“The Pagan team had the courage to accept the challenge, and they made the right decision,” Gonzalez said in the release. “I’m bringing a wealth of experience, including years of fighting world champions. Not everyone gets the chance to step into the ring with the No. 3 fighter in the world, especially in a new weight class.”

In an additional added fight, former Puerto Rico Olympian and undefeated junior-featherweight Ashleyann Lozada, 5-0 (1 KO), will take on former European champion Veronica Tosi, 9-2, (3 KOs), in a WBA 122 lbs. world title eliminator, with the winner set to face division champion Melissa Mortensen in 2027.

WBA No. 2-ranked Lozada is the first female Olympic boxer in Puerto Rican history.

In the night’s main event, Vazquez and Pineiro will fight for the WBC and WBA junior-welterweight championships vacated by recently retired Katie Taylor.
