Is Kemi Badenoch English/British

For me - no.

An anchor baby born to two Nigerian parents in London - her childhood and the vast majority of her schooling were done in Lagos Nigeria.

For me she isn't English and though technically British - she should not be the leader of the conservative party/The Opposition. She even sounds Nigerian when she is booming away in the House of Commons. :shame:

What about old Lenny Lewis or Rusedski brought up in Canada, do you count them as British?

Lennox - yes - he was born and schooled in London and moved to Canada at the age of 12 but I have no doubt Lennox sees himself as Jamaican.

Rusedski - no.

I see Mo Farah more British/English as either as them so there isn't an exact metric with all this.

Lewis and Rusedski are slightly different to each other. Rusedski was born in Canada and never lived in the UK before deciding to represent it.

Lewis was my sporting hero growing up but, as I've got older, I have to admit Canada has a pretty good claim on him being a Canadian fighter, since that's where he learned to box while growing up there.

I few months ago I saw an argument in a YT comment section where a Canadian was claiming Lewis. When someone came back with Lewis being born in the the UK his response was – 'Well, Hitler was born in Austria but everyone thinks of him as German'. Made me laugh.

Yeah, I think so.

I'm less bothered about where someone was born and more about them adopting our British Values.
Whilst I don't like her, she clearly worked hard to have a successful career and is seemingly a devoted public servant.

Didn't even know Mason was born in Jamaica too. What about Chizza, do you count him as English and British?

Not really, he carries that African-London 'big man' vibe. He's more British and English than Badenoch though even if they had a similar trajectory... didn't he come on over at 15?

Badenoch, every time she speaks and comes across - it's as a Nigerian - even how she speaks - she has cultivated the rough edges but she has that booming Nigerian voice and for her 'British' values - I don't see them ever any time she speaks - she is utterly vile in every way.

I don't like Rachel Reeves - but how Badenoch went for her when she burst into tears on the front bench was against all aspects of British fair play and decency - just an utter pudendum and I cannot imgaine a British woman (of any colour) brought up here doing what she did that day. If I ever get to be king of Britain, she will be the first to be stripped of her British citizenship and deported. She will be the first one on board Air Lagos to Nigeria - and it won't be fornicating first class either.

Yeah about 15 or 16...

Badenoch is a nasty piece of work, will try to backstab and trample on anyone and everyone to try to be PM.. What did you make of Raheem Kassam calling her a Nigerian Scammer.

Probably shouldn't have called her a scammer  her pretend 'I watched John Barnes play and was proud to be English' when she was 10 years old at the time and in Lagos was a big fornicating scam so maybe Kassam was right.

Would reform or restore let her stand as an MP?

I'd imagine the tech bros who really own the party wouldn't care.

She has British values and that's good enough for me, good on her, however, I won't be voting for her party any time soon.
