I've never liked Ebdon, always struck me as a twat. Could be totally wrong mind, but something about him always pissed me off.

Its funny James because I always think of you when he's on the telly.

Dont get pissed of with him just because Ronnie O'Sullivan is the weakest, mentally, of all world snooker champions since the competition started back in 1927.

It's nothing to do with O Sullivan....who incidentally can't be that weak if he managed to win the title more than once, unlike a number of other players who never managed to repeat their feat.

Jimmy White is probably the weakest mentally. To have that much talent and never win the world title says something. Wasn't he something like 17-10 up in the final once against Hendry and lost 18-17?? Choker...

Why is the World Championship so poor these days? Last year Dott was in the final, this year Murphy (who) and McCulloch (who) are in the semi's? Is the tournament losing its appeal?

It's down to the better players being off form. OK Williams got a 147 but has been awful all season, Higgins has lost it completely, Hendry has been consistant but not great and O'Sullivan just can't be arsed.

Murphy looks good though and Stephen McGuire (who lost 10-9 in the first round to Ronnie) is probably the long term future of the game.

Stephen McGuire will win the world championship this time next year in my opinion. Unless the so called 'top' players begin performing properly.

For several years I was a "I'll watch it if its on, but not that bothered" fan of snooker, but got into it properly the year that Ebdon won the world title. So I've always liked him.

I know I'm probably biased because I can't stand O'Sullivan, but I thought the way everyone jumped on his back for his tactics was absolutely farcical. I mean I know John Virgo is all but Ronnie's bitch, but so what if he deliberately played slow? Are you not allowed to use strategy in snooker? Its not Ebdons fault if Ronnie O'Sullivan falls apart because Ebdon cleans the white ball a few more times then usual. In the last few frames Ebdon messed up enough shots that Ronnie had enough chances to clear in at least 2 of the three frames he needed, but every time Ebdon fluffed one, so did Ronnie.

Ronnie showed that he may be the most naturally gifted player, but his temprement is a joke. People call him a genius, but he let Ebdons delaying tactics throw him so off his game that he was scratchig himself in the head at one point. Then when given enough three or four good chances in the both of the last two frames, he doesn't take them. Whats that got to do with Ebdon having the white ball cleaned? The reason this Murphy guy has managed to make a comeback is because he doesn't go to pieces when the pressure is on. Not like O'Sullivan.

John Virgo was absolutely ridiculous on commentary. Every other shot practically he was; "Well I know this is the world championships, and you want to win, but Ebdon is taking too long to make these shots." Idiot. Why not just say; "I'm biased towards O'Sullivan."

I personally think its fair play to Ebdon. He saw a weakness in his opponent, and saw a way to exploit it. You wouldn't say a football manager cheated if he studied the opposing teams style of play and sent out what he thought the best team to beat them was. Thats his job. So how come when Ebdon plays a style of play that beats O'Sullivan he's cheating? Whats he gonna do, deliberately play a way that isn't his style so his opponent has more chance of winning? Thats silly.

The whole situation was a farce. I mean he played that way against Steven Lee and nobody moaned. Just because O'Sullivan is the BBCs golden boy at the moment.

Also, in Ebdon's first year at the world championships Terry Griffiths did the same thing to him. Slowed him down and did his head in and knocked him out at the QF stage.

I think the people who really slate Ebdon are showing themselves for what they are, boxing fans talking about snooker.

Not necessarily. People that should've known better were doing it. John Parrot and Ken Doherty were giving him a right bollocking in the studio when it was on BBC 1.

Then Virgo mentioned it, like every other shot. Today he said; "Well, to the people who said it would be boring now Ronies out, we have two 12-12 semi finals."

Its like, that u was saying most of it Virgo.

I disagree about the standard deteriorating, its all really about the run of the balls. I think anyone from the top 32, possibly even beyond can go far. They are all capable of making frame winning breaks from nothing, its not as if they are given more than two chances to win a frame - just because they are not that well known, doesn't mean to say they are not good. Its just they usually the likes of Hendry, O Sullivan etc don't even need two chances.

Its not as if the form of the top 3 or 4 has been awful, its just if they are even at 95% then they might not win these days. I would say the standard of the so called lesser players has improved more so than they have dropped.

Look at Fegal O Brien, a couple of years ago he was a top 8 player and always there or there abouts in the big tornaments (much like Stephen Lee), now he is not in the top 16. I don't think he has dipped that much, just his opponents have improved and now capitalise on errors.

I went to this mornings session between McCulloch and Stevens. There was alot of tension. I must admit I do like that McCullouch, he is a terrific long potter and shows no fear.

For the first time it could be 2 qualifiers in the final.

Ronnie O'Sullivans head is a bit fucked mind, although he is probably the best snooker play to date, I understand why his mind is in that state, I mean his parents are in prison and snooker is pretty much all he has right now. I feel sorry for the guy.


Oh and, GO ON Stevens! :)
