First qualifier to win the world's for 600 years or something, so very well played. You could have made it 18-17 though, then I would have made more money.

I quite like Stevens, but I'm not sure he's quite got the aggression or is really that tough mentally. His Dad died a year or two ago and I think that shook him up a bit, so It would have been nice to see him win. Still...

Only other thing that's a shame. Coz Murphy still won't be in top 16, but gets a seeding at next years tournaments, the no. 16 drops out and has to qualify for all the tournaments, and that is Ian McCulloch, who's just had his best world championship ever and probably season. Some reward eh?

Oh, and take it Naz was a little, eh...busy...to be at the final this tear?

I always thought Joe Johnson was the last qualifier to win back in 86.

I loved Joe Johnson, those shoes man.

BBC says first qualifier since 1979, not certain though

Johnson wasn't a qualifier, he was in the world top 16, but he hadn't ever won a match at the world champs in something like 5 attempts and he was a ridiculous outsider. Plus Davis had waltzed through to the final, nobody expected him to have any issues with Johnson.
