Frank has complained to the WBO about German judge Axel Zielke's appointment for Joe's rematch with Mario Veit this Sat.
This is the same guy who scored Johnny Nelson v Alexander Petkovic a draw.

On the face of it, it seems unlikely, but I wouldn't be too surprised if this went the distance.

But if I was betting, I'd probably go Joe by late stopage....

Something that struck me as a little odd, was that it said something about how according to German rules, a german official had to present at a world title fight. I don't know of this being the case elsehwhere in the world, and if it isn't then how can it be the case, JUST in Germany, surely individual commissions shouldn't be allowed to have such rules. Although without a single international governing body, I suppose anything is possible.

Ie DM-Tiozzo didnt have any german officials same with Sidorenko vs Zarate on the same card. Markussen vs Ottke didnt have any german either. I think that is might be in the WBO rules that the "venuecountry" must have an official. There have been a british official in all of Calzaghe's fights.

Right ok, the piece was misleading in that case, wasn't making any accusations, merely wondering why it was being stated thus.

To be honest, I doubt that it's even being considered a factor. More likely it's designed to give the impression that there's any doubt about the contest. I suppose if by some strange act of god Calzaghe were to lose, they could claim it was a factor, but as I think Calzaghe is going to shite all over him, I doubt it will be a factor.

That's the way I see it as well. I do get the impression, recently, that Mr Warren is fed up with Calzaghe, to be honest. But surely he's not that concerned about this fight. Excuses in early, and all that. This fight is, as far as I can see, about the right to hawk a 'World Title' belt about for a few years, making a few quid along the line.

Frank can't be that worried, surely? Sure, Joe seems to have slipped recently, but can you honestly see Veit winning? The chances of another first round blow-out are pretty slim, but Veit is there to be hit. All night long. If Calzaghe isn't bouncing shots off Mario's chin for 7/8 rounds (if that), I'll be amazed. I actually think we'll see a good showing from the 'Italian Dragon' (Is that not the worst nickname ever, btw?) because Calzaghe does seem pissed off and ready to fight like we know he can.

Meaningless hype from FW, if you ask me. It reeks of trying to get the fight noticed as far as I can see. Which, in fairness, is the promoters job. But I can't see how it matters who the judges are for this one. Still, no publicity is bad publicity, and all that.....

I've just got my Sky back up and running (for how long is another matter) in time for Tito next week but I'm pretty pissed off that after all the mismatches we've seen Calzaghe take part in we miss this.

I'm not picking Veit to win but I'm positive it's a tough fight for Joe away from home.

It was 25-1 on a Calzaghe KO in 1, cant see it happening myself.

This is officially the first time I have ever cheered for a German. (excluding porn) ;)

Like I said before, Sports Network have made the WBO a bloody fortune over the years. This argument was poo-pooed before. However right now Sauerland have only 1 WBO champ, Zsolt Erdei, whilst SN have Nelson, Calzaghe and Harrison. Admittedly Nelson doesn't make them much, but Calzaghe and Harrison certainly aren't worth throwing away.

I will be very surprised if Calzaghe gets stiffed on a decision, not least because I don't think it goes that far.
