In the article below it states that Ian is in the USA sparring the very capable and experienced Monte Barrett. This is great experience for a novice professional.
HAMILTON boxer Ian Millarvie will spar with world heavyweight title contender Monte Barrett in the build-up to his third pro bout at the Motherwell Civic Centre on May 27. The unbeaten prospect is in the Catskill Mountains in upstate New York and could return to the US later this year for a club fight. Millarvie's manager Tommy Gilmour confirmed: "I've left Ian with the best in the business in Stan Hoffman. When he comes back to Scotland he'll go straight back to work with John McDermott." Millarvie will meet as yet unnamed Eastern European
