Oh well at least he has enough time to get a new opponent in, hopefully a better quality one but who knows.

I genuinly believe Harrison has the quality to become world champion but the man is his own worst enamy. I was watching Peter last night and for me audley could make that guy look silly.

Zumbrun was a pretty crap opponent even for a comeback fight, it has to be said.

It shows you the mentality Audley has though, justifying this guy as an opponent because of how close he came to beating the 2005 version of Riddick Bowe.

Sad.

Yes, hard not to baulk at that, trying to talk up Zumbrun as anything more than a clubfighter based on almost beating a totally shot to fornicate version of Bowe was a bit of a joke. Why not just pick some average shmo and say 'I'm having a tuneup at the moment, and it's a good opportunity to sharpen up and showcase my skills against a durable journeyman.'

Zumbrun is also only 6.0 tall, so he would have been hopelessly overmatched.

I'm not expecting him to take on Samuel Peter in his first fight back, but trying to talk Zumbrun up was a bit cheap. In some respects, Audley is too canny for his own good, because that sort of thing just puts people off him.

I eagerly await the announcement of the next journeyman! Has anything came of talks with Don King?

Come on, Zumbrun is the man.
He beat Butterbean. Thats got to count as a big accomplishment, right?

The ever so dangerous Butterbean was defeated by this Zumbrun steamroller. :P And he also should have gotten the decision against the 280lb 8 year past expiry date, brain damaged Bowe.

So, Audley would have had to work hard agaisnt this stellar heavyweight prospect.

But hey, not bad for a rust removing fights as Audley was coming off injuries and a long time away from the ring. But trying to pump up Zumbrun was pathetic. Just say it is the first fight back and people will understand.

Audley has the potential, but has to keep busy or he will get too old to have a fair chance agaisnt the top guys.

Perhaps fight Samil Sam after 2 tune ups. The fight will be big in Europe.
And Audley has the skills and speed to make Samil miss with his haymakers to a late ko or wide decision win. But keep busy as the clock is ticking.

He should fight Bowe.

Audley wont be fighting in Europe he's US based now.

agreed, four fights in what is left of the year to position himself, he needs to be fighting someone of the ilk of peter or brock within a year to have any chance of a title shot before he is 36.

He's only 33 ffs and he hasnt had that many fights amateur or pro so he's pretty fresh still.

Great, hopefully a good trial horse steps in instead of a club fighter.I would rather they didn't exhume Garing Lane's lipid saturated remains though.

He's not that fresh, seems to be injury prone, and he turns 34 this year. He has to get his skates on sharpish, no matter how fresh you think he is, he's a fighter who relies on his reflexes and speed, and that will be the first thing to go.

Why doesn't Harrison fight Bowe.

1. Aren't they trying to market Bowe for a big payday
2. It would be pointless as Bowe is shot to shit and audley destroying him would bring harrison more ridicule

Ive said before and ill say it again: oleg maskaev. He still has some ambition, is on a good run and holds a win over hasim rahman. Oh yeah and one decent shot on his chin is likely to put him out.

Actually a better opponent than zumbrun, has been in with some useful fighters and not disgraced himself at all. knocked out in 1 by mesi is his worst result.

I read that Audley beat Peter in the Amatuers in the Olympic bouts.

So what if he is US based now? He can still take the plane and go fight Sam. Or he can demand Samil Sam comes to the states and fights him. Either location shouldnt matter if they want to fight.

Or Audley could fight Valuev. Bowe wouldnt be such a good fight, except for the money that comes from Bowes name recognition. But as it is Bowe did slip a lot and he may disapoint big time. Last time he was 280lb and he got a gift decision agaisnt Zumbrun. Audley should have Bowe out very fast and the fans would holler that it was too much of a mismatch.

You know I wrote a letter to Boxing News 4 years ago defending Audley Harrison against his critics, I cited his amateur achievements and extolled his potential. It upsets me to say he has spent the subsequent 4 years doing absolutely nothing at all and making me look a complete @rse. The guy has really wasted an awful lot of potential.

Audley has gone down the wrong route, he said 2005 will be his year, yet he refuses to fight anyone in top 100 a fight with Sprott would be ideal for him, then winner Audley/Sprott v winner of Skelton/Danny then maybe the winner of that get a genuine title shot?
