British super middleweight champion Carl Froch is set to defend his title against Matthew Barney on 9 July

Bit of a chance of tact from the Alerican dream. Is this a mandatory? bbbofc have "proposed" this defence.

Also in July will be Michael Jones v Jamie Moore at light middle, which should be an interesting third encounter between the two.

I suppose Haye-Hobson should be announced soon if there are no spanners in the works

I don't normally look forward to anything involving Barney, but me thinks I'm going to enjoy watching Froch give him a spanking

I hope Barney wins but i think he will be overpowered in the later rounds. Froch seems to be running his mouth of a bit. Barney should of got the decison against Ulrich so he deserves some luck but i dont think he find any against froch. A froch win will be the best result for british boxing but i find him difficult to like.

Another easy opponent for Froch. Dean Francis beat him with one hand, then was robbed of the decision.

The difference here is Froch is prepared to back it up.

I'd love to see Froch in with Calzaghe. The press conference would be as good as the fight I reckon.

Agree with the guy who looked at the Dean Francis fight as a measure of Barney's limitations, Froch to win once he catches up with Barney late on.

Dean Francis deserved the verdict back then but Barney has improved alot since then and his last fight shows just how awkward he can be.

Froch wins but it will be interesting to see how he looks doing it

Looking at Barney's performance's post Francis - he looked even worse vs Amdanu (who of course Froch beat) but showed good boxing vs Oakey and was even better vs Ulrich.

Is it that Barney is improving, or is it he is more comfortable at Light Heavy?

I see this as a bad fight for Barney who you should really try and pressure a rematch with Ulrich.

Good fight for Froch to take, especially if he wins it.

barney is boring as fcuk but he travelled to germany to fight one of the best in the world.... Ulrich on paper was a much harder proposition than anyone froch has faced.... so it looks like Barney backs up his shit too!!!

Also nobody knew prior to the fight that Francis would fight one handed all the way through... and Dean with two hands was top 5 in the world
