What should be made of Marquez/Harrison?

This was widely banded about yesterday again, and even Reporting Scotland mentioned it, who wouldn't mention boxing if Ken Buchanan made a comeback at 200lb v Audley.

In terms of it happening, well, I can't see anything other than an easy victory for Marquez, on current form. Don't know what's in it for him other than an easy win and a different colour of belt to pick from.

Harrison just either isn't ready for this, or will never have the talent full stop to beat someone like Marquez. Maybe he had a very bad day at the office against Polo, who turned out to be a good opponent but really no mach for Marquez. If Harrison beats Brodie somewhere near convincingly, then I'm sure he'll start talking about unifications, but for me he hasn't even made the WBO his own yet. He's either fought absolute bums or has struggled (Polo & Medina.)

Maybe Chi would be the best option for Harrison to make a real name for himself, I don't know. Also, why does Chris John have the/a WBA title? Marquez isn't emeritus champion or something is he? He's only defended it 3 times.

Marquez V Harrison would be a mismatch IMO Harrison stumbling around like a drunk with eyes all puffed up trying to hit Marquez who would counter all night. It would be embarrassing, let's get Harrison in with Chi and see them tear into each other.

Don't worry about that. He's been in training for this situation in Glasgow nightclubs :P

Much better chance against injin chi. If they both win next fights that match should be made.

The only thing Harrison ever had going for him was his size over the smaller men he fought its been proved as soon as he fights fully fledged feathers who can stand up to his strength at the weight he struggles.
And as I dont think Brodie is really a fully fledged feather and could be past it I go for Harrison to bludgeon him late on

Why would Maloney put his major bread winner in for a certain beating?

Bollocks would he.

After Brodie, it'll be Scott in with another WBO "top contender" from the back of beyond.

If Chi beats Juarez then I would avoid him also - Juarez is better than Harrison.

As for Harrison vs Marquez one word sums up this fight.

PAIN.

Marquez has the worst style imaginable for Scott. He is slick, well-rounded, an excellent counter puncher, has power, and is tough as old boots too. Scott isn't a big enough puncher to trouble him, and I think Marquez would beat on him like a drum and probably stop him late. Marquez toyed with Polo throughout the fight from the sounds of it.

Despite three knockdowns he got up to dominate Pacqiauo for almost the whole remainder of the fight.

Chi's style will suit Scott a whole lot better, but it is no mean feat to overcome Chi's relentlessness and toughness. He's got to get by Brodie first however.

Oh right then, he is. "Unified World Champion." Ok he's best in the division, but does 3 defences (one of which a draw) with 2 belts really give him this status? Having said that, WBA have Judah and Hopkins as "undisputed," for which you obviously need all 3 belts or lots of points on your Sainsbury's reward card. Really what a bunch of shit.

Chi vs Harrison has got fight of the year all over it but I just cannot see Harrison hurting Chi, I think Chi will hurt Harrison. The man is one of the only guys to really have Morales in trouble. Neither Pacquiao or Barrera hurt Morales as much as Chi did.

I think Chi has superior handspeed aswell which will be the deciding factor.

Yes, I think Chi's phenomenal workrate is being overlooked. Against Brodie, Brodie set a very fast pace initially in both fights, but Chi was able to match and exceed it, and landed many many heavy shots.

This time last year Scott Harrison was a fight away from Barrera, now it's Marquez's name being used.

Just PR to keep Harrisons name in the Boxing press I reckon.

Probably wishing that Polo ran Marquez close so he could then say that Harrison did well

Chi vs Harrison, no longer has fight of the year written all over it. Thats already been booked.

Marquez is a league above Harrison, but have to say I didn't think Polo was outclassed at all. I know we didn't see all of the fight - but alot of the rounds we saw were close and could have gone either way (IMO). Marquez was a worthy winner, but I think one of the cards didn't give Polo a round - which was harsh.

Spot on. I've been having trouble posting but I was going to type the exact same thing this morning - I think he was beat, but no way would I call that 'outclassed' (a somewhat over-used term these days). From what we saw I may actually have had Polo winning the fight up till round 6, though after that Marquez did seem to have more control.

Polo just seemd to completely take him out his game after the first round. I said a while back Marquez was overrated by Brit fans (due to Jim Watt's commentary of the Pacman fight), but I really think it's becoming apparent now. I can honestly say I have seen him in more stinkers than stonkers - more fights he has looked ordinary in then the 'special' fighter we've been fed.
