What division will Amir campaign at?

Hes 140lber as an amateur but as a pro you weigh in the day before, he can boil down to a lower weight. I think he should boil down to 130. Any top10 fighter at 140 would destroy him, hes too fragile, as would any top5 at 135. I think he could make 130 but 126 wll probably be too much, although Harrison manages to go down to 126 and back upto 142.
130 would be his bst chance of success - there are no imposing figures and the top3 are old and will be there for the taking in 3years - MAB, Morales, Paq

He's quite tall & still growing, so 130lb might be too low for him.

I immagen he can campaign at least at a domestic level around light weight. THere are a resonable amount of british fighters at lightweight who are ranked by the EBU not that Warren is likely to be interested but I think they would be good a few fights down the line.
3) Jason COOK
5 Kevin BENNETT
7 Graham EARL
9 Dave STEWART
15 Gavin REES
16 Jon THAXTON
In terms of his first fights who do you think he is likely to face (Peter buckly came to mind for a easy first fight but Warren may look for a better [padded] record).

Buckley looks like a good pick. Warren started Barrie Jones at Welter recently against Buckley, Hinds and then Handley. Another possible might be the awkward Daniel Thorpe?

I think his first opponent will be an absolute fall over job, i mean a real 5-150 type guy from the continent.

The only thing that makes me doubt Buckley is that Warren said no bums and then went on about Harrison so putting him in against someone who lost against over 200 people might make him look a bit of a tit when Harrison's opponent had won 9 and lost 8 or something. Even though I think Kahn would learn more against Buckley than Harrison learnd against Middleton the british public won't see that.
I think it is good that whoever he is fighting is on the undercard though he isn't setting himself up to fail.

Fair point, but most Boxing insiders will know Buckley is no bum. If he doesn't look for the likes of Buckley early on then where does he go? He can't push the kid into deep water before he can swim, Khan needs to learn his trade and guys like Buckley are the perfect people to fight IMO I would mostly take anything allegedly says with a pinch of salt anyway.

I think he will put a load of bums who don't have much to offer expereance wise but look good record wise someone from Asabijan with a 20-3-4 record who has only fought fighters that are 0-0-0 or something. The thing is Warren will want to make Kahn look credible quickly so he can then go on to sell out the MEN arrena full of Fawnig fans while he compeats for the WBO/WBU/WBF/WTF title.

What's happening with Barrie Jones? He should be fighting again about now.
If he starts to show some power, then that is a damn fine prospect the Welsh have got.

Totally agree mate, but i think the best way is to give Khan the on the job experience, we need Khan to have hard fights and learn because when he gets to 25-0 and starts fighting the big guns he will look pretty daft when he realises the opponents are not going to hit the floor after one decent combination. It's the whole media emphasis on perfection all the time, Tony Doherty has a tough fight on SKY and it's all "Ooh maybe he isn't as good as we first thought" etc and he is banished to the depths of the undercard...these novices need learning fights, knocking over bums every week might please TV bosses but it doesn't do anything for the fighter.

I think Frank's sharper that to feed Amir poor opponents with padded records rather than better tests like Buckley who have poor records on paper but have better chins and sterner defences. Audley never fought guys like Michael Murray early on because their statistical records were deemed commercially unacceptable to unknowledgable Beeb viewers who thought he would be fighting heavyweight champions on his debut. But after 4 years what has he learned fighting Richel Hersisia and Co? Not a lot.
Also I suspect Amir will not be topping bills like Audley was from the get-go, thereby reducing the pressure to turn a novice's 4-rounder into a prime-time main event.

He's only ever fought on the Maccarinelli bills in Wales. I've just seen that Enzo might fight on the Hatton undercard, but I don't know if Jones will be there.

Difficult to blame harrison look at the fuss people made when he fought Frances. In my view that fight should have been made earlier (around the time he fought Juliouse Long) but atleast it was one that he could have learnt from.

I'm afraid I do blame Harrison, he has been running his own career from the start. Personally I also blame him for turning the Beeb off boxing although they should have insisted on some better levels of opposition. And I'm not anti-Harrison, I actually wrote to Boxing News in 2001 defending him against his critics, but unfortunately the following 4 years proved me wrong in his attitude.
