Golota - Brewster result

Brewster KO1 Golota

Brewster comes out throwing from the first bell, Golota seems flustered and returns fire. About fifteen seconds in Brewster catches Golota with a huge right hook that puts Golota down. Golota gets up looking fucked and is floored twice more within about thirty seconds before the ref waves it off.

Who the fornicate saw that result, eh?

Yeh I never seen that coming. Brewster looked like Tyson in the 50 odd seconds he was in there, Dare I say Tyson V Brewster?

My mistake, it was actually a left hook, which caused the subsequent knockdowns also (which included the comic sight of a really really fucked Golota trying to untangle himself from the ropes and his eyes from orbit).

This is a tremendously impressive result from Brewster, and certainly in terms of his ranking you would have to put him at least on a par with Byrd and Ruiz now. He just destroyed in 53 seconds the man that most of us had beating the current WBA and IBF champions.

On the other hand, I don't see that we've learned anything new about Brewster tonight, other than that his chin and punch - which we've always known to be his main assets - are truly world-class and make him a dangerous proposition for anybody in the division whilst he's still on his feet. Clearly, he brought a gameplan tonight and executed it to perfection - he was all over Golota from the word go and he knew what would happen if he put him under pressure.

For all of that, 53 seconds of swarming all over a stunned Andrew Golota do not prove that he has the skill level to last with someone who will keep hitting him back and has the stamina and patience to avoid his wild hooks. He's not going to do that sort of thing to Vitali Klitschko or Byrd, or indeed any of the fictional heavyweights out there with reach, a chin, and skills. Toney-Brewster would be extremely interesting because of Toney's preference to fighting at close quarters; I wonder how long Toney's defensive pocket would last under the kind of fire that Brewster would be throwing..

Bloody shitting hell. What a mad result.

You have to give Brewster the benefit of the doubt for that one, and see what happens next.

Of interesting results from the undercard:
Adamek MD12 Briggs in a war (WBC 175)
Baldomir UD 12 Rodriguez (Baldomir becomes WBC mandatory)
Alejandro Garcia TKO9 Wells (WBA 154)
Guillermo Jones TKO 4 Kelvin Davis

Shock result there :o

I thought Brewster would win on points, but hey that's Boxing for you. Maybe Brewster is a little better than many of us thought.

gotta feel a little bad for Golota, I mean he gets done over by the judges in 2 title fights then when he's served up something of a gimme in the third he gets KTFO in 1 round. Good fighter but always finds a way to lose, if he was born with any luck he could have had a great career.

Dont forget Lewis also blitzed him in one in another title fight. The guy threw away 2 wins against Bowe, another against Grant when he quit while he was ahead, quit again against Tyson and simply didn't do enough to beat Ruiz or Byrd.
But to show up the way he did last night and not even had a sweat going it was reminiscent of the Lewis fight. He was bone-dry and Brewster wasnt going to give him time to ease into the fight and simply jumped all over him.

Wow, looks like i called just about every result wrong  Briggs is maybe a bit more limited than i thought, anyone have any info on his loss? Also Garcia KO's Wells again for the second time and Davis was stoped in 4 by Jones which was a shock. Some surprise results all round!!

I checked out Secondsout.com, no offence but i didn't want to sift through the "Adamek v Tyson?" posts :TU: I think it's time Golota disappeared, he has had enough chances and the reality is he just isn't very good.

WOW! Never would have guessed that result.

I thought somebody had made this thread as a joke!

Not sure what to say - not much chance Brewster will do this again to someone of a similar calibre. Who does he fight now? Please not Ruiz.

Not sure what now for Golota. Wlad Klitschko as next opponent?

I do fear for Golota's future, not just in the ring (where it looks to be over) but outside of it aswell.

Golota vs Klitchsko (either one) would be a big fight, maybe Vitali could do it as a voluntary (after he deals with Rahman or Barrett), it would be a good fight for Wlad to take now - although I doubt it will happen.

As far as the king control belts I think it is over for Golota.

Hard also to really consider what to do with Brewester - he lies in a bit of a quandry. Most people still think Kali Meehan should be the WBO champ and there is definately some business there - however Rahman took care of it.

A Rahman vs Brewester would be a natural, but Rahman has Barrett for the WBC interim belt.

Maybe Brewester should fight the only other active fighter who has despatched with Golota with ease - Mike Tyson. Brewester's stock has gone up a great deal with the win but I think still needs an eye catching win to be held up amongst the masses as "Kings' best champion" which would then beat the drum for a Klitchsko vs Brewester match. Tyson is still that eye catching opponent.

Other than that its hard to think who, Fres Oquendo has been unlucky in the past - is he another Golota, or can he put it right.

This might even help the Williams/Skelton winner chances because of the Kali Meehan connection (whose stock has also risen with this result).

Golota quit didn't he? Still Brewster-Tyson isn't a bad idea though.

Watch the fight again, as Golota hits the floor from the first left hook he puts his right glove off to block the punch when he's on his back!! ;)

He was gone!

I can upload the video will give it a go now.

I couldn't help but feel sorry for Golota, and his loyal Polish fans. They turn out in the 1000's to watch their hero fight for a world title - and he ends up 0-4, twice inside a round.
I'd like to see a picture of Don King's face ringside, must be a hilarious shot.
Not a case of Golota freezing this time, he was just caught with an almighty left hook that would've flattened most heavies.

Jesus H Christ. Had a really busy weekend, and forgot to check this result. That is fornicating amazing.

Maybe Brewster is a bit better than we thought, I know Golota is a guy who always fails at title level, but to completely muller him like that is impressive stuff, only Lewis was able to do so before now.

I might have mentioned this before, but Danny Williams used to do an online column for the BBC (I think even before he was a BBC fighter) and he said Brewester was the best fighter of his generation.

IMO Golota has always been overestimated as something like a "white hope" or whatever. he is nothing more as the "undisputed heavyweight championship loser". he is not better than our european top fighters like Luan Krasniqi, Sinan Samil Sam or Valuev, who have worked hard and still are working hard for a title fight.

He looked so good and powerful against Bowe though until he had the meltdowns perhaps that Bowe was as shot then as he was now
