Yes, I remember Terry Marsh well. I have some of his fights on tape and the big difference between Marsh winning the IBF title and Hatton doing the same this Saturday is that Tszyu is a much better fighter than Joe Manley.

I believe before Marsh's rather 'strange' retirement there was talk of him fighting Frankie Warren (no realtion) and then a big money match with Hector Camacho.

There was also talk of him moving up in weight for a big money domestic fight with Lloyd Honeyghan, who like The Macho man I believe would have been too much for Terry Marsh. Infact Marsh would have had his hands full against Frankie Warren from what I can remember of him.

They showed Marsh's first and only defence of his IBF light welterweight title on KOTV classics a couple of weeks ago. Very weak opponent as it turned out.


Marsh was a good boxer who paid his dues and took the world title is good style, but like KOJOE90 says, Kostya Tszua is far superior to Joe Louis Manley. The challengers must have been forming a queue to get at him, but allegedly got their first for his man.

The boxer Frankie Warren, as I remember, was building up a strong reputation stateside, and my money would have been on Frankie had Marsh ever defended against his then mandatory contender.

I seem to recall that Frankie Warren was an all action, buzzsaw type of a fighter.

Anyone have more vivid memories of him?

Warren was a poor mans 140lb version of Joe Frazier. I seem to recall him being a bit past his best by the time he was mooted to fight Marsh, who could have beaten him. He was stopped in 1 by Buddy McGirt shortly after.

Marsh was a very good fighter, quick, strong, very well conditioned, good chin and intelligent.

His biggest asset was his MENTAL strength.

He had a tremendous will to win.

I think I've seen that. Marsh was actually charged and acquitted as I remember.

That's one question I'd love to ask Warren. Who was it?
