I read about him in Boxing Monthly, and would like to get some feedback on him. I have heard that he really should be fighting at Light-Welter instead of Welter, what do you guys think of him etc, etc?

From what i have seen of him he seems ok, not been fighting anything too risky as yet but he seems to have good punch variety and appears willing to listen to trainer Brian Hughes advice and learn. Early signs showed massive potential but some people are cooling of late, i think he can make some noise at British level in the future for certain, he is a gypsy too i think so i am sure he can knock you out a nice shag carpet as well if you ask him nicely.

Best prospect in the country if you ask me, although of course a certain Mr Kahn will now probably take that mantle and Kevin Mitchell also has been impressing me of late.

I do think he is a little fleshy at Welter and do worry about his stamina.

Very good prospect, I've seen a few fights back to the Fight Skool series and can't remember seeing him in any trouble as yet. There have been fights where Tony has totally dominated the first round giving me the feeling that he will finish the fight early but he has taken his foot off the gas and coasted to a points victory. That might not be a good idea when he steps up.

NEEDS TO BE IN WITH TOUGHER OPPONENTS TO GIVE US A REAL IDEA OF HIM.

I've seen him fight a few times and just one word comes to mind - unproven. Good skills but unproven.

Brian Hughes emailed me before Doherty's first pro fight and told me to look out for him. I have no reason to doubt Brian, but having been ringside at several of Doherty's fights I still say 'unproven'. Hope he can go on to do great things but to be frank my feeling is that he will NOT win a true world title and will probably win a British title, maybe Commonwealth, at best.

No doubt Doherty is a good prospect, but not the best in the country. Read recently that when he fought Kevin Anderson as an amatuer, he thought he was unfortuate not to have won, sorry Tony, I didn't think you won any of the 3 rounds before you got stopped, but I do think he could make a bigger mark at light welter. Anderson should get a crack at the guy who pumped Barnes cause he'd have a great chance.
