Mayweather vs Hatton...

Will that ever happen? Can Hatton easily beat Mayweather?

This kind of opponent is not right for Hatton. Tszyu had the right style for Hatton.

Mayweather is an awesome talent, but he's also an arsehole. If Gatti manages to spark him it will be good for the nice guys in boxing, but especially Hatton, because Gatti has a style that would suit him more than Mayweather.

Saying that, Mayweather didn't look too hot when Castillo backed him up and pressured him in their first fight, so who knows.

EDIT: Addendum: you know, I don't think Mayweather would cope well with Ricky's strength in the clinch at all. A lot would depend on where the fight was held and who the referee was, because Mayweather is dynamite if he wraps you with that jab from the outside, but I'm unconvinced about his chin at light welter. I think he has come up there for pay days because the division is hot, rather than physical reason.

As much as I rated that show and have always rated Hatton (although, I did tip Kostya) I think both Gatti and Mayweather styles might not suit Ricky.

Gatti for me is faster than Tszyu, might not be as strong (although, Tszyu's strength wasn't as great as Hatton) however, he hits almost as hard and has a better workrate. I think Gatti would match Hatton and his more sharper stuff would get the better of him.

I think Mayweather will be super negative and ultra defensive but win a decision over Hatton with his skills.

Hatton will easily beat Harries (always thought that) and I tell you something, Hatton vs Cotto is probably the most winnable big fight for him.

Although, if Corrales does move up, I strongly tip Hatton. Corrales won't hurt him.

I honestly think mayweather would be mauled.

Think of the shots he took against Corley, then think of non stop pressure from hatton, never relenting, and cumulative, sapping punches.

Ok, so floyd won't get hit as much as tszyu did, but he can't keep hatton off forever, and i don't think floyd can hurt hatton enough to discourage him, if at all.

Floyd is capable of winning, but he'd have to make it a pretty much perfect fight.

I don't see a mayweather fight happening for some time, all the talk is about Corralles right now, and this is a fight which suits Ricky's style. Corrales has never been in with a body puncher like hatton, and despite his revival in fortunes has always looked vulnerable, and is the much smaller man despite being taller.

i would have thought Hatton would have a routine defence before taking that fight on, but my god that is going to be a HUGE fight, and if Hatton wins it he goes on to become an even bigger star.

This result must really be sticking in the craw of the yanks out there.

Why woould you think that? I was rooting for Hatton; I think he gets a bum rap. Like I've said before, he was a hell of a lot better qualified to fight Tszyu than Jermain Taylor is to fight Bernard Hopkins.

If Hatton ever gets to fight Mayweather, I hope he knocks Floyd's head off his shoulders.

I pick Hatton to beat Mayweather and Gatti. I don't know about Corrales, the man just dosn't stay down and when he is hurt he throws wild punches that can hurt any fighter. I also think that Hatton Vs Cotto would be a great fight but i will wait until the Cotto fight with Abduliev before i make a prediction.

Exactly. Hatton is so strong, so relentless, MAyweather woon't be able to do his thing.

Possibly. But he (Corrales) will trying to hurt a man who's capable of walking through Tzsyu's bombs and who has more than a few of his own.

Mayweather is very hard to catch clean no matter how close you get to him. Even giving away natural strength 2 weights up I'd favour Floyd outscore Hatton without controversy.

I know he took Tszyu's punches well but Corrales likes standing toe 2 toe and his punches come from nowhere and it is hard to defend against punches you don't see coming.

Lets remeber Ricky took everything Zoo had to throw and came back stronger...Ricky is no1 now and i honestly cant see anyone beating him only if it were in vegas and he got robbed on points...can anyone see gatti or mayweather taking those sort of body shots...no way

Part of me thinks that Hatton should go for Cotto as soon as possible for two reasons. (1) I think Cotto is very tight at the weight and would struggle to cope with 12 rounds of relentless Hatton, so get him before he moves up to Welterweight. (2) Get him before he gains more valuable experience.

As for Hatton vs Mayweather Jr, stylewise that may be a risky fight for Hatton I would rather see him take on Cotto, Corrales or Gatti first.

Cotto has fallen a lot in my estimation after seeing that performance against Chop Chop. Chop isn't a known puncher, and had him on queer street. Cotto likes to work at his own pace, counterpunching behind his high guard, Hatton's two fisted attack would I think cause him big problems, especially as he likes to work off of the ropes.

Hatton proved he can take big shots, and although Tszyu's reliance on single shots allowed Hatton to keep pouring it on, I don't think anyone is going to have an easy time.

Corralles will swing for the rafters a lot more, he won't be as cautious as Tszyu was, and that makes for a hell of a fight, I favour Hatton, but I think Corralles has the kind of power which could hurt him.

Amazing that Ricky's eyes held up at this fight, apart from the phillips fight, he hasn't been cut in a long time now.
