Couple of weeks back I was starting to wonder about cancelling my Sky subs, things had got that bad. Now I'm definitely encouraged to keep with it for a while longer. Not only has one of Sky's favourite boxers just arrived at the elite world level, guaranteeing we will be seeing him in bigger and better fights, but there have been some welcome additions to the upcoming schedule that suggest Sky are committed to working with different promoters to get attractive fights.

Same here, i was always going to keep my SKY for the Football but i was becoming disillusioned with the Boxing situation, however last nights little up and coming slot showed there are a few solid fights coming our way. Haye-Hobson and Elcock-Dann on the British scene and there were some good looking foreign fights to be shown as well...maybe the ITV switch could turn out to be a good thing all round after all.

Will Ricky Hatton be on ITV in the future now? Im all for keeping my sky subscription if they are focusing on buying only the competetive match ups. We have seen some great fights lately and i hope it carries on

I would expect Sky to retain coverage of Ricky's future fights after last night. From an entirely selfish point of view the more boxing that stays on Sky the better, their coverage and the knowledge of their team has always eclipsed the coverage on other channels, especially ITV. Maybe if the Skelton v Williams card goes ahead on ITV next month that will tell is more, does anyone know if that is a done deal?

i am an idiot. i got home today at 2pm after a night out and switced on channel 770, pressed a few buttons and the barnes fight comes on the screen. so i think i must have just paid £14.95 for 2 rounds on a crap undercard fight and 5mins of highlights of the hatton fight! oh well im happy for hatton so dont really care

I agree that if ITV are considering a long term commitment to Boxing they need to invest in knowledgable analysts and a wider team, having Jim Rosenthal presenting, interviewing, commentating and making the sandwiches isn't going to work in the long run. It was okay in the Khan fight with Ricky Hatton offering analysis but it had a bit of a stop gap feel about it, so that area will need attention. They could probably do worse than draft in Bunce from the BBC, he seems to pop up everywhere and despite not being everyones cup of tea at least he offers some enthusiasm to go along with his not so reliable statistics

Yes it is looking very promising over the summer on SKY for Boxing coverage.

That reminds me, I thought Nicky Cook's comments about his upcoming fight with Dazzo Williams were a bit worrying on Friday night. He sort of stopped himself saying it but it was clear he thinks he should be blowing Williams away. Might be getting ahead of himself a little.

Yes it should be Hopkins-Taylor i think...Nicky Cook's comments were a little strange, i think he was trying to say if he has any potential to move up the Boxing ladder he needs to beat the likes of Dazzo Williams but he stumbled a little bit over his words. Cook-Harrison could be one for the future.

Looking forward to the Cotto-Abdullaev card next week, Cotto will be keen to make a statement as it was Abdullaev who beat him for the good medal plus he will be looking for an impressive showing after Hatton's win over Tszyu. The fight on the undercard is also interesting, Kid Dimond is an up and coming fighter from Uzbekistan i think now based in Vegas, i remember seeing him on the Hopkins-DLH undercard, he held his hands low but looked flashy and skillful. His opponent Casamayor is a great technician and will be looking to prove he still has a future at world level after losses to Castillo and Corrales. A good crossroads fight and credit to Casamayor he never ducks a challenge.

Here Here on your Casamayor comments, its a toughie for him this one. I think Castillo might have taken something out of him. I think he will win, but not convinced.

Remember he fought Nate Campbell soon after losing to Freitas, he just doesn't mind these hard warm up fights.
