All the limelight is on Ricky HAtton and rightly so amazing, i just think Wayne Alexander deserves a mention for his fight with Bladt. Some good shots were landing from both and with waynes eye closing i thought he was fading but pulled out that cracking right to lay bladt out in the fifth. Anyone think he can make a decent run at a proper title or is he just too vulnerable?

He's too vulnerable, his past record has shown us that. He can win himself a WBU belt if he likes but his fragility precludes getting too excited about his genuine world-level prospects. Personally I never understand why guys like Alexander don't hang on to the European title a bit longer when they have it, that blue belt means consistently decent paydays and if you keep it long enough you are more or less guaranteed a mandatory spot in the WBC rankings. Look at Clinton Woods or Billy Schwer, WBC mandatories from EBU defences.

He is just too vulnerable to last with the top guys.

He already won the WBU belt against Takaloo. ;)

I think they need to make a move soon, he has a punchers chance with anyone.

Showed heart and his power, but looked shot. Although the canvas didn't help his balance so perhaps I am premature.

His defence is too leaky for big guns and I don't think he has the power to hurt Winky. Not saying his power is overated, cause it isn't - but Tito couldn't do anything.

I'm not so sure, Harry Simon didn't have too many problems. I think there may have been a moment where he did slightly rattle him, but Wayne's whole gameplan is based around power, so it needs to work at the top level too for him to be successful.

Harry Simon might be the most underated fighter in modern times. I really think he could have lived (and possibly beaten) any version of Hopkins. The calls for him to fight Calzaghe / Roy Jones at Super Middle might have been too much - but he was a big punching Light Middle.

Having said that, I still think there was something missing from Wright that night.

Not necessarily, I think Winky is a better fighter now that he was then, plus Simon was a pretty handy fighter himself as you pointed out. Back then Windy was also losing to Fernando Vargas, albeit controversially. I can't imagine the 2005 Winky having any trouble with a guy like Vargas.

Good points, he should settle at Euro level and earn off a few defences. I don't think he will improve anymore at this stage of his career.

Also it was good to him back to his normal mixing it style last night, in the Mellis rematch you could of parked a bus between them. 8)

Keep in mind Moseley came up from lightweight and Trinidad welterweight, and both were at the end of their careers. Winky fought some class guys at their natural weight - Vasquez, Simon and Vargas. He lost all three. People say he's the most avoided fighter about and all that. I'll tell you something, I wouldn't want to fight him if I was a marquee name. He's essentially a high quality spoiler. And there's a reason he doesn't take risks and plays that safe style of his.
He may be the bogeyman of the 90's, but he ain't as good as the bogeyman of the 80's, IMO.
