Just wondering if Davis can present any kind of learning experience to Audley or not. He's an improvement on Billy Zumbrun, and he's a genuine heavyweight-sized guy which will be something of a novelty for Audley. About 5 years ago I remember Davis was something of a prospect before he ran into lumbering Lance "Goofi" Whitaker and got biffed out quickly on an HBO show, and since then he's not looked so clever. He seems to lose quickly to the bigger punchers - Whitaker, Michael Grant and Joe Mesi all took him out inside 3 rounds. But he did manage to take Monte Barrett and Michael Moorer the distance. For me if Davis is in shape and motivated and Harrison still takes him out early I'll be pleased. Presumably the ESPN show will probably turn up on Eurosport at some point.

If its ESPN it might turn up on Channel 5 in the wee small hours.

I thought it was Fox Sports? We're not going to get that show over here.

First fight against a short, fat clubfighter=Live prime time viewng.

First real test against a decent trialhorse= Delayed and at ungodly hours.

Go figure.

Its on Fox Sports Best Damn Sports Show. Eurosport usually pick those fights up so it will be on there a few weeks later.

Lets hope someone else gets a tape delay or something.

Yes, Eurosport have been good for these US shows recently on delay. They have got Tua's return on soon, which was only shown in the US on a delay PPV (which in its self sounds stupid).

Would be nice to see it just to keep the boxing thing going. After the weekend you begin to feel invigorated about the sport again and then..... nothing.

I definitely want to see it, I haven't given up all hope on Fraudley just yet,we only get one Gold medal every 32 years so you try and get your money's worth out of 'em. The moment he shows any signs of moving up a level and getting serious I want to see it!

Just thought I'd bump this as the fight is tomorrow. Very worrying really the lack of interest our unbeaten Gold medallist generates these days, even amongst hardcore boxing fans. Only himself to blame for that.

Anyone got any thoughts on whether any result can impress us tomorrow?

Its being shown on Sky Sports 2 this Friday apparently.

To be honest, the guys it is probably fairest to measure Audrey to, Brock and Peter, have started treading water now. Say Audrey can get a stoppage in 4-8 ish rds tomorrow, then someone loosely in the category of Guinn - maybe even Whittaker? - oh, and in the process look half decent - then he won't actually be too far behind at all. Then it's a matter of how he wants to go about constructing his 'career defining moment'. Does he Go for the jugular and attempt to a) get and b) succeed in, a crack at one of the big 3 titles. Or, attempt a slightly easier strategy of attempting to set up a fight with Brewster, assuming he'll be WBO champ in 9 or 10 months or so. Or, somehow, set up a string of domestic fights, whether it be for a European title or whatever. The latter option is personally the more attractive to me, but time and politics make it largely implausible now.

In short, to ipso facto recap bone fide tout souit, He's probably got to fight either Brock or Peter after Davis and then another after that.

A very fair assessment of where the guy is at. If he can muster some US interest he can get a wiggle on I suppose, but it's still a shame much of the past 4 years is down the tubes now. As you pointed out there is probably no time for domestic or European titles now.

I wouldn't give them too much credit. They will have to pay very little (if anything) for Audley's fight. Fox and Sky are hand in hand. It's just a cheap hour filler for them.

honest after the year starting so woefully its really starting to pick up now.

Cracking news that, I'm no Harrison fan but I hope we get to see more boxing. Whats the undercard like, we might get some of that.

Somehow, I don't get the feeling Harrison will be too pleased with Watts/Barry's comments before the fight.

AUDLEY HARRISON VS ROBERT DAVIS TO BE SCREENED BY SKY SPORTS 2 ON FRIDAY FIGHT NIGHT



London, England (June 9, 2005) – A-Force Promotions are delighted to announce that the ring return of the 2000 Olympic Super Heavyweight gold medallist and current undefeated heavyweight contender Audley “A-Force” Harrison (17-0, 12KOs) will be shown on Sky Sports 2 at 22.00 hours (UK Time) on Friday June 10th. This will be on the Friday Fight Night programme on a tape delay basis.



The fight, which will also be screened live across the United States of America on Fox Sports News’ “Best Damn Sports Show Period” on June 9th, will see Harrison make his return to the ring after almost a year out. His last fight was a win over Tomasz Bonin in London last June but an unfortunate hand injury has sidelined him since late 2004. Harrison will fight Robert Davis (31-6, 19KOs) at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California in what will be a stiff comeback test against an opponent who has fought some of the top heavyweight challengers in recent years. “The wait is over for me and my fans,” said the unbeaten Harrison. “On June 9 people will realise I am ready to begin the next phase of my career that will end up with the heavyweight championship of the world and I am delighted that my British fans will be able to see me fight.”

That's possibly saved Sky my subscription for the next few months.

I was thinking of cancelling as there is absolutely nothing I want to watch for the next couple of months until the footy season starts again anyway.

But some weekly boxing might just swing me....
