fornicating hope so, this is a major fight in my eyes. I know Reid doesn't get the juices flowing (except possibly for his female admirers in the soft porn section), but this is a proper title, and a genuine chance for Robin to crack the big time once again.

Whoever is showing Calzaghe Vs Lacy (or Reid rematch) must show this :box:

I hope Reid does it so he can fight Joe again. Was he robbed in his fight with Calzaghe?

Nah, it was a close fight which could reasonably have gone either way. Certainly no "robbery".

Very tough to say, Joe started well but Reid found a real honey punch (I think it was the overhand right) which was stopping Joe in his tracks, but without seriously hurting him.

This is a tough fight to call, I really give Reid a good chance of victory as it's usually the slick/awkward Boxers that give him trouble.

I've just read an article on the Sky Sports website which indicates that Calzaghe Vs Lacy is definately gonna be in the UK at Manchester or Cardiff. It also might be another 2 o'clock PPV.

I hope it means just a Showtime PPV...I won't be shelling out £14.95 for a Calzaghe PPV

Is Lacy that good though?

Also after that fight would the winner have to fight Brian Magee before Calzaghe as Magee's next bout also says IBF title eliminator?

Lacy will be too fresh and strong for the ageing Reid, a unanimous decision winner IMO 116-112 or 117-111 something like that, he will just throw too many punches for Reid.

Steve - spot on. Reid has slowed down quite a bit over the last 18 months but with his granite chin will withstand Lacey's punch (ironically, Lacey's best punch in not the left hook but more of an over the top left - still, doesn't make for quite such a good nickname).

I agree, let's not get carried away with Robin's chances. Let's remember what he looked like against Brian Magee, a study in inactivity. He still has the chin and the power, but no workrate to write home about. A young champ like Lacy should beat him by a wide points margin.

Would be nice to see Reid win just stir things up a bit.

I doubt very much Calzaghe could sell out the MEN on his own, so expect a Hatton defence double bill. I'd actually be up for going to that.

I quite like Robin Reid but i want Lacy to win, that may sound strange but Boxing needs a touch of continuity within it's divisions, a young, vibrant, fresher champion to win and take on Calzaghe is what we need IMO No disrespect to Reid because if he wins he will have deserved it but he looked awful at times versus Magee and slowed down at the end against Ottke (granted the officiating must have deflated him). Do we really want him to win and put the SM hierarchy in jeopardy again? Just as we are getting closer to finding a definitive ruler a 35 year old who's best years were back in 1997 when he went to Italy and beat Nardiello could come along and throw things up in the air.

With Brian Magee going to Germany to test how good Vitali Tsypko will be and Mundine and Kessler fighting in a bout that gets my mouthwatering this weekend the Super Middleweight division NEEDS Lacy to win IMO for the good of it's immediate future.

I see Lacy shading it, perhaps something like 115-113 with Reid not doing that extra 10% needed.

Lacy is a little hungrier IMO as well.

I hope Reid can do it of course, his chin and ring nous will keep him in there for the 12 rounds. Could be close fight.

Dont think wither man knew of the other before this fight tho! Lacy may just underestimate Reid.

Oh yeh, while we're on the subject of Reid, whjat the hell is this soft porn business about...

Does he star in films or what?! :-?

I take it the boxing game hasnt paid him his dues...?

(No innuendos towards me please, just wondered... )

Lacy will win on a wide decision, Reid cant throw more than a handful of shots a round these days he'll easily outwork him.

Whats occurring with the boxrec ratings by the way? Reid is #1 at supermiddle.

I have a bad feeling reid will just take the money, make a decent go of it but lose comfortably on points and retire.

He just doesn't seem that hungry any more. It'll be like Ottke/Starie. I just hope he can detonate that big right hand at some point, show us what Lacy is really made of.

I'm looking forward to this fight. Lacy will come straight for Reidy, so there is a good chance it will be a mint fight.

Hope Rob wins, but he's fighting a tank of a man (see picture).

Stuey, from boxingaddicts, went over to Vegas last month and got to meet just about everybody. This is a picture of him with Jeff Lacy. Stocky fuckers both.

Lacy looks almost like a 168 version of Mormeck. You can also tell he hits well with the left hand - looks like he's developing a bit of a hematoma around that knuckle.
