Wayne is one of the most exciting fighters in the UK if not Europe.... he hits hard, shows signs of vunerability.. always looking for the knockout....

However his last fight, a great fight on paper versus Bladt was put on first on Saturday night , in front of an empty arena.... so Wayne fought with no atmosphere and the crowd missed a great fight... as there were only three competitive fights on the show it would have made sense to have wayne on a little later in the show.

And why was it a 8 rounder? wayne is the WBU champ, i am sure he would have liked to defend that title....

Before that in december he fought Mellis, good to get revenge but i am sure a title defence would have been more appreciated.......

Before that Takaloo.....a fight Wayne really wanted but also one where he could have easily lost (he was underdog) and been sent into obscurity.... a no lose situation as neither Wayne or Takaloo get any love

before that another first fight on the bill show versus howard clarke....

someone definately isnt flavour of the month....

And what's happened to Tak recently? Be a shame if he packed it in. He's never going to set the world on fire, but he was on top in the Alexander fight (IMO) until he got sloppy.

I would like to see him get a shot at a top-10 world contender.

He may get beaten around for 6-7 rounds but that bloody get out of jail power could take out anyone.

He's starting to remind me a tad of Carl Thompson, though perhaps a level or two below Thompson's class.

takaloo has the same problem...

Alexander certainly isn't going to appreciate Jim Watts' commentary for the Bladt fight when he gets the tape, that's for sure.

i am sure he isnt..... but Wayne is wayne... he is never gonna be Willy Pep.. then again Bladt is a much better fighter than he was given credit for before the fight

Think Thompson definetly has a better chin too. He has awful balance, but the shots he took of Haye proved he's got no china in there, only one man ever really knocked him out and that was Seller's, a mean mean puncher.

Alexander always looks vulnerable, he's more like Nigel Benn for me, except he hasn't got the sustained intensity nor quite the willpower.

no theory... just promoters have thier favourites.....

The theory is neither sells enough tickets.... and Warren doesnt have as much faith in them as some of his other charges....

i.e. Barnes who is overrated to the max.

of course Wayne isnt in the league of Hatton and farnell but he sells decent tickets.... York hall was rammed for his EBU fight and the Takaloo fight and the Samuels fight was pretty big too.....

He should be fighting at York Hall

i think we all agree on that, which is essentially part of the point i was trying to make..... why wasnt he on a london show???

It probably boils down to Frank allegedly falling out with SKY. It's not worth it for him to try and put big shows on Friday nights. People just don't want to be hassled going to the fights after work. They'd rather just go out to pub/clubs at 2100.

When he gets on ITV, I think we'll see more London shows again.

knockout, I 100% share your disappointment in how Wayne's career has been handled.

I think, amazingly, some people just don't get what Wayne's contribution to boxing is all about. :x For me Wayne probably provides the most unadulterated heart stopping action on the British scene (THIS IS JUST MY OPINION, IT'S NOT AN INVITATION TO COME UP WITH ALTERNATIVES).

Handled correctly he had the potential to to be almost as big a draw as Nigel Benn, in my opinion. It will always make me laugh when I think of the time when Farnell was Harry Simon's number 1 contender (or close to it) when Wayne was hauled in at 24 HOURS NOTICE to take on Simon. Farnell boxed a soft touch on the very same show. And what an effort that was from Wayne.

Nethertheless I'm often left exasperated at how things work out for Alexander.

agree with you guys on this. realy shame i just hope Wayne can get a decent shot and some good money for himslef and his family in the twilight of his career.

I cant remember why that didnt happen exactly, McDonagh being protected more than likely.

Alexander would knock him into next week.

When are they going to step it up with McDonagh? He's 26-0-2 and still not even fought for a British title. Ridiculous.

I'm not so sure, he really does lack concentration bigtime sometimes. I have a feeling Alexander would land one shot and KO him.

He could maybe box Alexander to nonsense, but Alexander has good experience.

Would like to see McDonagh take on Wayne. He needs the opponent to take the fight to him (props to Barrie Lee for doing so on Friday), before he fights himself. All too happy to coast and clown. Wayne would certainly keep him on his toes, or else it would be lights out.
