Does Chico want Hatton or Castillo? BT members find out first!
GL: How was the trip to England? "It was a great time. I went over there with Jeff Lacy, Winky Wright and Gary Shaw and we all had a blast. It was a great fight, but to me it's always sad to see someone quit on the stool. A lot of view Tszyu as a powerhouse and to see him quit was pretty unbelievable. He's never done anything like that before or even shown that quitting was in his character."
GL: Were you suprised that Hatton won?
Diego Corrales: "I really was, but you have to get a ton of props to Ricky Hatton for fighting the way he did. He fought an inside fight Tszyu and crowded him and Tszyu didn't know what to do. He didn't know how to handle not being able to hit Ricky with his long shots. I think Ricky exposed a big flaw in Tszyu's style."
GL: What's your interest in fighting Ricky Hatton?
DC: "Of course he's one of the top guys out there so he's someone I want to fight, it's just that we haven't really spoke about it yet."
GL: Let's you and I speak about it for a bit. If you were able to fight Jose Luis Castillo again or face Hatton at 140 in England for around the same money, which fight would you prefer?
DC: "Castillo. I would prefer Castillo and I'll tell you why. Every great battle needs to have the rematch. Our fight was an awesome one and I think Castillo has earned that."
GL: Do you think Hatton would be able to fight chest to chest with you and last twelve rounds?
DC: "I don't think so. He's a tough guy and a very good fighter. He's a tough guy and he's one division above me so he may be able to fight me like that and go twelve, I really haven't given it much thought."
GL: Did you think Hatton was well ahead or do you think it was a close fight?
DC: "I thought it was 6-5 for Hatton. Tszyu should have been able to escape with a draw if he won the last round, but obviously Tszyu didn't feel the same way."
GL: Neither did the judges because they had it 107-102 and 106-103 for Hatton.
DC: "I know and those scores were ridiculous. There's no way I thought Hatton was up by that much. Those scorecards were unbelieveable."
GL: Since you've been flying overseas with your promoter Gary Shaw has there been any update regarding your next fight and when it might take place?
DC: "You guys should probably see me in October. That's what I've been hearing."
GL: Is looking like another big fight or will this be a tune up before you move on to Hatton or Castillo?
DC: "I'm going to be meeting with Gary and James Prince on Monday, so I'm sure you'll be able to get a better answer after we meet."
GL: Is there anything you'd like to say in closing?
DC: "After being over there in England and seeing the kind of love I was receiving from the people I want to thank them for all that love and let all my fans know that I love them back. You're going to see a lot of great things from me in the future so stay tuned."
