"No more burgers and Mr Kipling cakes. I want to come in lighter for Skelton - maybe around 18 stone - to improve my mobility, speed and power."

He wants Tyson as well. Apparently for the chance to prove that it was real last time. I can't help thinking that there may be a financial incentive.

Upwards of 19, I seem to recall. He had the world's biggest shorts on.

He was 270lbs - 19 stone 4.

He was 18 stone 12 at the weekend for the farcical fight.

At least he finally acknowledged the weight is a problem, I've been saying so for a long time. All it takes is discipline and not eating shit and that extra weight will fly off him - think about the training he is putting in.

Can he stick to it though and not eat all the crap - I am not convinced until I see him weighing around 250 again! You have to go back to the Mirovic fight in April 2003 when he was last under 18 stone.

Williams needs to be in good shape to keep on his toes and box Skelton from the outside because if it comes to a brawl Skelton will win IMO Coming in at nearly 20 stone is no good for him no matter how many times he tried to justify it with all the "i want the extra weight for strength" ramblings, he needs to come in at a lighter weight.

18 stone +- a couple pounds will be the ideal weight for this fight. Skelton comes in around the same usually, so a weight where he can move (like Steve describes) and also keep his strength will give him his best chance.

However, I'm still picking Skelton to take it in a gruesome spectacle. Even though this development does improve Danny's chances, I can see Skelton making him fight his type of fight - with Danny getting mauled against the ropes while having that vacant look he sometimes acquires (i.e. his mind off the job).

So let's see, Danny Thinks coming in the size of a house is going to work well against Vitali, yet he thinks he needs to lose weight for the lumbering Skelton. Williams is a nice guy, but his priorities are bizzarre, he came in well overweight for the biggest fight of his life, and now for a domestic contest he gets serious.

I guess better late than never.

That's the thing with Danny: he sounds serious and makes all the right noises, people say he looks sensational in sparring, then the bell rings and it's like the lights go off...

How about this..... he's just not that good! I realised that a long time ago. Mental problems my arse he's just pretty average in the big scheme of things.

Your right Manos, we hear him sit and give out all the right sounds..."your going to see the real Danny Williams against Skelton" but can we really believe him? I don't think so, i predict Skelton will maul Williams into his fight, Williams has the ability but i doubt he has the fitness to maintain the right strategy to beat Skelton. Keeping it long and Boxing from the outside, as soon as he starts blowing it will be the beginning of the end as the ever fit, relentless Skelton takes over.

Nah, come on, think back to his wins over Keith Long and Harry Senior.

On second thoughts, don't.

He wont beat Skelton at any weight. He'll cave in under the pressure Skelton will exert. Skelton's relentlessness will win him the fight.

Yeah, I think the same at the end of the day. I only judge Danny as a domestic heavy ('not even' European - depending on the opposition). I think he'd have struggled with Skelton at any point in his career to be honest. But I actually have a feeling that he's straight up shot now. I'm sure Savatage actually rocked him at one point.

Williams will bust Skelton up in eight rounds. Skelton's eye's will be shut by the fifth.

This fight is going to suit Williams more than you think.

I pick Skelton.

He may not be pretty, but he's tough and he's a winner.

Too true on the which Williams turns up, but for all the problems Long caused him, and I was there at ringside - Williams 'enjoyed' the contest that much was clear, he also traded in some heated close-ups with Tyson in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Now sure Skelton is bigger and taller and stronger than Long and Tyson, but come on the guy doesn't throw knockout punches IMO and I dont think he'll overwhelm Williams like he did Sprott.

I just think Williams is a purer puncher, will match Skelton for strength and will find Skelton easy to catch. Admittedly, his timing looked pretty poor against the Hungarian Geography teacher.....but I'm confident Williams still has TOO much power and quality to lose to Skelton.

I like SKelton, because of his attitude....but Ithink Williams will relish the contest rather than flounder in it as everyone else seems to think.

J,

Family are great, little one has been sleeping 11-6 OR 7 for six weeks or more.

True that he does pack a heavy wallop. :TU:

Those Mr Kipling cakes will go stale now.

If Skelton is relentless I really dont see how Williams wont cave in.

Unless Williams gets off to a good start and gets on top from the first bell I see him getting clobbered about. If Skelton starts fast and gets on top early I think Williams will fall apart. Much like he did against Samil Sam.

I'd like to see Williams around the 18 stone for Skelton who comes in square and usually doesn't care about the opponents punches. Williams' power seems to be affected when he comes in light (Keith Long) so he must hit and hurt Skelton when he comes wading in.

For future fights I would like to see him closer to 17 stone than 18. Whilst alot have been critical of his display vs Long, I still think it will take a good heavyweight to live with the pace Williams set that night.
