Did anyone see his fight with Simeon Cover on the Harrison - Brodie undercard. Sky showed a zooming highlight of him getting instructions in the corner very briefly when they did that skit on Billy Graham working his stable the night before 'The Big One', but they didn't show any of the actual fight.

I'm interested in how far he'll go because Billy talks very highly of him, plus he showed good power (albeit against journeymen and guys smaller than him) the times he's been on Sky. He's also a scouser. 8)

It was surprising then to hear the audio interview on Allegedly's, admittedly excellent, website, where he sounded very pissed off and unhappy with his performance. I checked up on British Boxing dot net, and saw that Kev (I think) had him closely losing the fight! On boxrec the scores say it was a shut out!

Can anyone give any details on it?

From what i have seen of him i am impressed, he put away Mike Duffield impressively and i hope he can make something of himself. Here's a fight for you a few years down the line...Paul Smith V Carl Froch

Was at the show, but just walked in to catch the last 30 seconds of this one, Cover looked physically bigger and from the brief glimpse I saw was pushing him back.
Cover's corner were abolutely furious at the decision and were complaining bitterly to the referee and Smiths corner, then as the scores were read they looked completely stunned when the wide margin...
But of course I didn't see the fight.

Paul Smith is up there high on my list of top prospects but he just didn't seem to be able to cope Cover's awkward style. Cover looked bigger and stronger yes, and also seemed to be able to pick off Smith at ease.

I suppose looking back it could go have gone either way, but no way Smith deserved a share in every round!

Cover's style again makes him one of those boxer's who is hard to score, but I just felt Smith had a bad night at the office
